think i did in nhl once, got my free stuff from preorder. played a game. got a bad card. saw u had to pay for more. went back to gm mode

The bigger downside is that mode makes so much money they don't focus on making others good, that was madden's problem once it took off

I think there is an extreme for when it gets too far. At this point it is almost a given that there is some in there. But the key is to make it optional in the sense that you don't NEED to pay actual money for in game currency. It "helps" makes things a bit faster but you don't lose out completely on not doing it.
