I can see that. I do enjoy the original more as well, but it's one of the remakes I enjoyed myself. I do happen to enjoy Snyder's work though, so that's where we would differ.

I liked the 2003 version. It's one of the few zombie movies I do, but not that much so I wouldn't fight for it or anything.

I do think though that the 2003 remake doesn't have the baggage of requiring Night of the Living Dead to moreover understand the context of things (not saying you need it to watch the original, but it moreover helps highlight the whole point of Dawn).

I thought the opening scene was pretty intense.

Dawn's remake for better or worse is not really saying much; it's an action-horror movie in which several people survive in a mall; whereas the 1978 original has a bunch of contextual clues and talking points that still make it exceedingly relevant to modern times: Distrust in science, inter-divisions within humanity itself, political rhetoric, the escalation of blatant capitalism, and police brutality.

28 Days Later still one of my favourites but I'm not sure if that is entirely a zombie flick as the infected are so different and agile. I love when he's walking around the desolate London.

Yeah, I just liked the action horror in a mall. I don't really need my zombie movies trying to be smart, but then again, I don't really like zombie movies at all so that's also part of it.
