I haven't played 08, but from what I can tell from 2013 and 2016 the biggest improvements are just realism, which some people get kinda turned off of bc the games are harder, but you can always fuck around with the settings and cheat if you don't like some stuff

Yeah you can have alliances that are just you're friendly, have a working relationship where you trade talent, or have developmental companies

Unfortunately, the Mod Squad (the guys dedicated to TEW mods) are no longer making mods for 2020. A dispute with Adam saw them banned.
