Really can't make sense of why they would dedicate that amount of time to the wedding of two unspecified parties, and only two episodes on what followed which was easily the most important thing, which actually should have been expanded on

The reason this especially infuriates me is they completely sandbag us knowing how boded into that finale they were. They filmed that stupid final scene back during season 2, so if if you weren’t going to allow your show to evolve due to actor chemistry and fan feedback, nip storylines that didn’t lead to your finale a year in advance. They went into season choosing to focus the entire finale season on a story they knew they had to retcon one episode later because their finale was in the can 8 fucking years ago!!!

That’s why you don’t film a show’s ending when you have no idea what’re a show will take you over the course it’s lifetime. Especially when it’s not a limited series with a specific end date.

I finally got around to watching the Runaways. Just finished season 2 and started season 3. Great show.

New Girl is a fun show. I don’t think I’ve seen the last season for whatever though.

As far as the title being a lie, is it really that much of a lie? Sure, the story could have been wayyyyyy shorter. But they constantly plant the seeds of how he would end up meeting her and the experiences he went through that shaped him.

So I mean, at least he does ultimately tell them... how he met their mother

But I guess with what happens in the finale, it does make the title of the show invalid

It's like technically the last two episodes shouldn't have been called How I Met Your Mother :lol

The daughter basically confirms it’s a lie in the final scene.

SPOILER:

You didn’t tell us this story to tell us how you met or mother or you wouldn’t started this story 9 years before you met her. You started this story when you met Aunt Robin. The reason you told us this is because you’re totally in love with Aunt Robin.

Something to that effect.

You gotta see the last season if just for specific episode but I ain't spoilin' which one. But yeah the last season of New Girl is an afterthought since everyone has all essentially moved on. It's not bad though but not really necessary either

I probably didn’t watch it because I didn’t want to be disappointed, but also because I just never got around to it, but I definitely plan to finish it.

And another thing... they really didn't do shit in that final season to actually make the ultimate payoff feel good in any way. Like, if you're going to go that route at least do something leading up to it that makes it a viable option. Because I feel like most people at this phase of the series were not hoping for that ending.

Or give us some evidence that when he does what he does... it will be happily ever after. At least. Because based on their history with relationships, why should I buy that it is a happily ever after thing?

I’ve not seen many if any that were happy with that ending. Even the few Ted and Robin shippers I’ve encountered hated it.

This is again the problem with having a taped in the can ending and a final season that tried to blow off the storyline started in seasons 3-8 before swerving into said taped ending that was entirely based on season 2 storylines. Basically every character reverts to season 2 characters in the first 20 minutes of the finale to make the taped ending work.

I’d love to know why they thought taping an ending that far in advance was a good idea.
