Can't imagine the Observer reports on this incident at the time
Shinya Hashimoto, who looked set to be the next top star in crisis-stricken New Japan, will now be out of action until at least the year 1995, leaving the company without one of its organic babyfaces as it looks to recover from a Yakuza crime scandal that saw sponsorships and broadcasting deals vanish into the ether. When (indeed, if) he returns, it is unlikely he'll be able to work the hard hitting Japanese style; just look at Kenta Kobashi, who has clearly been left behind by his contemporaries in All Japan after returning from his own spinal issues. The "temporary" NJPW booking regime, which has essentially seen Mutoh and Chono booking by themselves and trying to navigate Tenryu's extensive creative control, is trying its best, but will this be too much to recover from?
