its insane to me how much healthcare costs in the usa

when i got hit by the car and broke my shoulder a couple of years back, literally everything was free - the ambulance ride, the surgery, the physiotherapy, i think the only thing i paid for was like admin fees on the physio and i think overall that was like about 40 bucks

Most countries with universal healthcare won’t have take noncitizens. The country generally desperate people go to is Mexico, but the care you’d get there isn’t great and the money and time it would cost to get there makes it impractical. Most people don’t do that.

People here get their insulin from people that get it from Mexico bc it's cheaper if you don't have insurance to do that and ya know they need it to live

Our hospitals can’t turn people away if they can’t afford healthcare. You just get put on a debt collectors list.
