Yeah, Reagan's policies were short-term positives, but long-term disasters that didn't take a decade and a half to really hurt us. The 90s had all sorts of bubbles and booms going on, which mitigated the damages Reagan's policies had.

The 2000s were very much a jackhammer to everything. 9/11 (not related to Reagan, but it collapsed the economy), the housing bubble, the bank failures, etc. All of those were policies headed by Reagan that all came to a head.
