Not really a fan of Hogan, but tbf he's made a huge impact to the industry + was a huge star, extremely charismatic, think he was excellent on the mic, and he's about average/decent in the ring imo

Why would you say he's average in the ring? He worked a crowd better than anyone

Honestly, I think that was mostly due to Hogan's charisma and the crowds preferring Hogan at the time (because he just returned to WWF and he was the cool heel who eventually turned face since the crowds loved him), over Rock (because fans were already used to The Rock and some of them may have thought he was stale as entertaining as he was)

But DC, wouldn't you agree that in a fake sport that working the crowd equates to being a great ring worker? What's more important than that?

I'm a character guy. I'll take Hollywood Hogan being champ and doing awesome promos over guys that can only put on good matches.

To add further to that, Smark, I can't consider a fake fight good if I have no reason to care about it either.

See, when we talk about wrestling we agree on so much. Yes, working the crowd and your character makes someone a better ring worker to me than someone doing 10 flips and a Canadian Destroyer.

the destruction of Kayfabe and rise of kayfabe breaking on social media killed off any chance for that level of character work anymore.

Honestly, I'm mostly referring to wrestling ability/technique; I'm not acting like Hogan was bad in the ring or anything. I just think he was a decent wrestler, but fortunately he had a huge bucket loads of charisma that helped the crowds get invested into his matches during his time

Like, I think Kazuchika Okada is a much better wrestler than Hulk Hogan was

but Hulk Hogan is much, MUCH better than Enzo Amore in the ring. He's like Chris Benoit compared to Enzo in the ring
