But no I'm imagining Sergio Leone long shots and wide shots of the landscape in the early movie and then as the movie goes on it gets more claustrophobic and closer shots of the characters.

Butch Cassidy and Sundance is another western I really like

So it looks like a Leone-esque Spaghetti Western with beautiful landscapes in the early part of the movie but once the horror ramps up, we get Leone's signature close-ups. The fear, the sweat, the chills running through their expressions in these long agonizing moments of tension... and finally we get the release of that tension with some very well-placed shockers.

Not sure what I'd want the "horror" part to be, some sick and twisted humans or something more supernatural

I think the only Leone westerns I’ve seen are Fistful of Dollars and For A Few Dollars More. I liked both but prefer Fistful

Maybe something like a human embodiment of Satan, sympathy for the devil type guy in the old west

I'm imagining hearing a noise and the character does a slow, slow, agonizingly slow walk towards a corner, and the jumpscare would be just a man hopping around the corner and killing the character in such a quick and brutal manner.

You should def watch Once Upon a Time in the West too, Grim overrates it but it's still fucking awesome
