Like, for a Provincial example since I have my contacts: In NB, when the Liberals were holding government last time, David Coon of the Greens presented an idea for a bill which fell in line with a bill the Liberals were working on for the same are, just their's was a larger bill. Some Liberals (which they were a majority gov't) asked him if they could include it in their bill to get their idea implemented in one swoop, but he refused. He wanted the credit even though his idea would have been implemented regardless.

And genuinely, if he wanted credit, there could have been an easy way to say "Hey, can we just mention that we helped, and we can input other ideas, that way both our parties get good PR" but that was petty and really counterproductive as a third party
