I sort of see this too. The left, especially in Canada, is a diverse, hence why we have multiple parties.

Almost every polictical party is center aligned though with ideologies splitting into left and right. Some are just more left then right but you can see each part on both sides of the fence here in certain policies and viewws

And I had a talk with someone who also has the same Poli Sci background on me and something he discussed in a class before was there is a bit of a different mentality between left and right. The left fight for their voice to be heard, whether they are progressive, environmentalist, or center-left. The right typically more want to win hence why we have seen right wing parties in Canada unify like Alberta or Federally between the PCs and the CA to increase their odds. Though yes, the PPC has caused a small but noticeable split in the right.
