I agree here. Short term alignments are fine but they work infinitely better with a fleshed out character .

The workrate era has caused a lot of wrestlers to go with "Good Wrestling Guy" as a character - not everyone can pull that off

I think you can have a grounded and realistic character, but you just need a clear personality, some quirks, and clear wants and desires

Like I think Kevin Owens, booking aside, is an example of a good "Ima wrestler" character. He has clear wants and desires. He wants to win the title to provide for his family and is willing to stab people in the back to do so or stand in front of anyone to do so, even if they are a friend.

I'm talking when he finally feuded with Triple H, and then afterwards when he actually tried to repent for his mistakes from splitting The Shield, then him using his wrestling to get over and blending it into his character, a firey babyface with heart who wanted to out perform anyone and face all challengers.
