I find the "they're what alignment we decide this week" approach interesting

It would work if they wouldn't change some people's personalities completely while doing it

Because it allows them to deviate from their current formula for pure faces and pure heels

Pure faces get beaten up constantly and never get revenge, whereas heels act cool and never win clean

The problem I have with this stems from them pretty much having no real characters... the biggest amount of workers simply feel the same and when they take away long term alignments it feels even worse

I agree here. Short term alignments are fine but they work infinitely better with a fleshed out character .
