Desperately sad because I think if Kevin and Hall were clean and motivated, 2002 nWo could have been really interesting.
The day of WrestleMania X8 is when it all fell apart.
Scott Hall and Kevin Nash both swear that Hall was clean and they were both motivated until that day when they told Hall was taking a loss to Austin when until Hall arrived that day the plan was for months for him to go over. On top of that, Hogan loses CLEAN to Rock when the original plan was for fuckery and not only that, Hogan shakes Rock hand. The plan was for the nWo, all three of them to get their heat back on the Rock.
Hall was back on the sauce the next day and Nash was checked out mentally because he already knew Vince was going to ruin it and he’s not wrong. The nWo slowly faded down the card. Started out ok when Flair drafted them to Raw, but then they were feuding with Bradshaw and Kane and it was like this is what we’re doing now.
It really sucks because there was a moment where it seemed like maybe it would survive without Hogan when Nash got that SmackDown match with Rock and they had some good chemistry too, but they never got a rematch and then we’re separated by the split.
Hogan also went to SmackDown. Austin stayed on Raw, but their feud was apparently already over after X8.
That all being said, Shawn Michaels was going to save it. I truly believe that. The build to Vengeance was all about the nWo getting back to their glory and the feud with Triple H who they gave an ultimatum to would have been fire and great and helped the nWo remain.
