Most states have 'at will' employment. They can pretty much fire you for any reason as long as it doesn't go against the law. Like race, nationality, age, etc...

its extremely hard to fire somebody once they pass probation in the uk

I think the only work around there is if you have clearly defined targets that they're not hitting. Otherwise you just can't

I work for the government so it would be difficult to get fired now that I am past the probation period.

If your reason is shit you'll get charged back if they apply for unemployment but that's it

Louisiana I believe isn't "at-will" tho I believe, ran into that when I was helping the other dealership over there last year when they wanted to fire this lazy bum
