There's a lot of points and the title is pretty misleading. The main chunk is just analyzing how the return of dynamic characters - faces that have clear motives and who the fans want to cheer for (Hanger and Cody), and heels that are more complex (MJF, Drew, KO) - and the fluidity by promotions to have guys that kind of drift between, and can adapt to how crowds are perceiving them have contributed largely to the recent boom in wrestling. This is mainly in contrast to much of the PG Era where the top face (Cena) was not that widely beloved, faced little adversity for the most part, and had little discernible motivation, and all the heels were just as one dimensional.
