Yeah I don't think enough people had dropped cable by then and if they did they weren't used to paying that for a service. And from HBOs suits POV I can see why they'd be like "yeah we can't offer more than our cable package has for less money guys" bc that was like $20 a month to add on

crazy to think netflix has been doing streaming since 2007

my parents just dropped cable in the last few years mainly because they are both retired now and it was like almost 300 a month for cable/internet.

Mine dropped our satellite finally when the big tornado hit in 2021 and wrecked the dish and they couldn't fix it before the roof and in the few months that took, they realized they could manage with YouTube TV

Now my mom canceled that and she's watching more shows than she ever has since she finally figured out how streaming works and how it's better than channel flipping

Just finding all the random sitcoms she used to watch in the 90s and 2000s somewhere that she forgot existed

my parents feel like they have to watch LIVE

i have hulu live for them and tell them they can set dvr recordings

i went in and set smackdown to record and there's so many times my dad says, "i got busy and missed smackdown" and i have to remind him i have it recording.
