I think Shawn Michaels and Edge's post-retirement WWE runs proved you do not need to win many or any titles to have a positive run for a Legend

Hell, Adam also was doing well in AEW even when he won the TNT title apart from his injury.

Agreed. I do think with the secondary (third?) world title it makes things more plausible

People complained he didn't lose enough, but he has gas in the tank and genuinely still rose some peeps up in matches. Like KOR, Nick Wayne, all of HOB. Like the feud with Cope was probably one of House of Black's better storylines in a while.

I was personally fine with him winning a ton to start his run - I felt he would have eventually went on a losing streak to trigger the turn to heel

thats how I personally envisionned it, at least. was already starting with the call to more violence and carelessness for his opponent. shame he did that unfortunate spot to get hurt. think he regrets that one a bit

Yep. I probably think he'd want to do a Workhorse run with the TNT belt, an old gunslinger proving he can go. Then probably would have put over Perry I'm guessing around Forbidden Door time (probably after so he could have a match with an NJPW talent), then next chapter of his arc
