Makes sense because I think it's like 19.99 a month now and the game itself is that much.

Online subscriptions: if you are playing Minecraft multiplayer on a console, you must be subscribed to either Xbox Game Pass Core, Nintendo Switch Online, or PlayStation Plus to be able to play with friends.

You could get game pass core which is the cheaper version for 9.99 and comes with only a select number of games to play but of course Minecraft isn't one of them.
