“I remember coming into the backstage area and one of the techs was like ‘Punk wants to see you in his locker room.’ In my head, I like ‘What the hell is this?’ I get there and, let me just say this, his door was always open. You didn’t even have to knock. He was always there if you needed to talk about wrestling, life or whatever, but, getting back to my story, I walk in and the entire Pinnacle is in there with him. It’s me, Cash, Tully Blanchard, Wardlow, Shawn Spears and Max.
He says to us ‘I know you guys are busy and tied, but, this won’t take long. I just want to say that, at some point, I’ll be in programs with all of you individually, and I wanted to show how appreciative I am to be here, and I’m really excited to work with everyone of you.’
Then, he goes into his bag and hands out these Starbucks gift cards, because someone had told him we all loved coffee, and proceeded to give them to all of us. He then said ‘There’s $500 on each of those. I know it’s not much, but, I just wanted to show how much I appreciate you all for welcoming me here.’
That really spoke me a lot about his character and as I got to know him more and more, I realized that’s just the way he is, man. That’s the guy I still know today.” - Dax Harwood (via FTR with Dax Harwood)”
Some rare positive words about Punk’s good influence and happiness to be in the AEW locker room. I don’t think he’s lying either because there are too many people in this story who could call him out.
That’s honestly good to hear at the very least in the beginning the man was grateful to be there and $500 Starbucks gift cards was pretty generous of him.
