Unfortunately that's what most games have come to rely on nowadays. The rest of the game can suck, with short story modes, barely any replayability whatsoever. But that's supposed to be ok because you can just go online and do multiplayer for an unlimited amount of time after that.

That's just where I call bullshit. Because I'm a firm believer that you should build your game around a great and replayable single player mode that just happens to include multiplayer and online features.

But unfortunately nowadays great franchises like COD, Tekken, Unreal Tournament, Soul Calibur, Virtually any sports franchise and most RPG's have become reliant on the MMO aspects of gaming. And haven't evolved in the slightest beyond a change in scenery, weaker and weaker storylines, and a slight change in the character selection.

I haven't played enough games to be a decent authority on game of the decade. But just in terms of sheer replayability as well as great single modes AND multiplayer modes, my hat is going to have to go to Super Smash Brothers franchise.

I never use multiplayer. Except for FIFA. Just cos I don't absolutely suck at it, and it searches for people near your skill level.

I don't have the necessary tools for multiplayer online anyway.

When I shopped for my XBox, it was like.

Me: So how much for that XBox?

Rep: 150.

Me: Sweet! That's a cheap deal. I'll take it.

Rep: Alright, but you'll want to be able to save your games. So I recommend buying our 20 GB hard drive for another 50.

Me: Well, alright. That doesn't sound so bad. I'll take it.

Rep: Did you know that the XBox is notorious for the red ring of death? One in every three Xboxes get it. I suggest the extended 2 year warranty for another 20 bucks.

Me: Well.....ok. I guess that's a good investment.

Rep: And don't forget your first game! It'd be a shame to go through all this trouble to get your XBox and have no games to play. Here's this shiny new Smackdown Vs. Raw 2010 for $60 plus tax. How about it?

Me: This is getting kinda out of my price range bro....but I guess I need a game to start, so why not?

Rep: And what's getting your first game without having XBoxlive for all that sweet downloadable content and online playability? You can get a 3 month membership for another 20 bucks.

Me: What is this now, 300 bucks? I suppose I can do that. I'd like to download the Steve Austin exclusive and the DLC down the road I suppose. So it aint so bad.

Rep: Oh, but ya gotta be able to CONNECT to the internet in order to get Xboxlive to work. I suggest picking up a wireless internet adapter for 100 bucks.

Me: Ya know what....I think I'll just take the Xbox.....

Rep: There's also the necessary components for Mic Chatting online as well!

Me: No really, I'm just gonna go now.

Rep: It's also good to buy into the necessary video capture cards for 70 bucks so you can upload all your epic battles!

Me: I'm callin' the cops.

Rep: And don't forget the extra controller for 40 bucks so you can do multiplayer from home!

Eh, it's nowhere near as fantastic as it's talked up to be. Unless you spend all your time on the PWNING N00BZ~!, the money wasn't well spent on XBL imo. I go on there for FIFA 10, Need For Speed Shift and that's it.

Some of the people on there are absolute dipshits. I'm a big fan of button mashing all the strikes in UFC 09, so there's some guy who was doing all these technical moves and faggy shit, I escape, one kick to the head, knockout. Guys goes apeshit. Soo funny.

UFC Undisputed is the one game I've played over the past 5 years that's been truly impossibly challenging no matter how skilled I try to get it. I just can't get down the necessary mechanics of the ground grappling system. I rotate to and fro and I still stay in the same spot as they crawl all over me and get the full mount and from there I can't escape. Also, the clinch is annoying as fuck as I learned from being taken to school by Anderson Silva on every occassion. lol. I wish there were a difficulty setting so that I could of reduced it down to easy while I got used to the controls. Either way though, good game. It's better than me just sitting for a 5 hour stretch and beating the entire game and unlocking all the stuff from the story mode like most games nowadays.

Yeah, the transitions and rotating the sticks is a fucking pain, cos you have to do it millimeter perfect or it'll just give you a big fuck off and do nothing.

Deus Ex.

Don't know how many of you played this, it was released in like 2000 - 2001. Though with my skewed sense of time it may have been 99 too. Anyway.

Obviously since it's from 200whatever it doesn't have amazing graphics but it has an amazing storyline to it and is kinda RPG like too. Really neat game, if you don't mind that old kinda blocky stuff it's a really awesome game.

And if you want a modern game, fine. Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory wins for me.

I remember it, I never played it though. And ugh, I cannot stand a single fucking Tom Clancy game. I can't get past the first levels in three games I played. The first splinter cell, rainbow 6 vegas and double agent. I couldn't even finish the double agent training cos it didn't work :(.

They are really hard, it took me a while to beat them. I never bothered to try and get 100% in them though. I couldn't be bothered trying to sneak up on people when I could just pull out my gun and shoot them instead.

Another one is Civilization 4. A lot of people didn't like the way they changed the basics of the game, but it was a lot harder and more realistic.

I hated ever GTA game I played.
I only played San Andreas & Vice City,I beat Vice City but never beat San Andreas. San Andreas just stood out in my mind alot more,I loved the gameplay and the scenery of it.
Could you be bigger cliché?
lol,I know right. I'm a big 50 Cent / G-Unit fan so I really liked both games. But the graphics and gameplay on Blood In The Sand was alot better. I never got around to beating get rich or die tryin, cause I was stuck on this one part and couldn't get past it =/.

Watch G4 or IGN give the honors to Halo or GTA, simply based on gameplay, sales and fanbase.
