BACK IN TOWN
’The Krash Memorial Show’
Live from Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado.
Sunday 19th February, 2023.
FIRST MATCH - 1/60
The Connection (c) [Gerald Grayson and Michelle von Horrowitz] vs. The Undisputed Alliance [Nate Savage and Jackson Fenix.
Tag Team Match for the FWA World Tag Team Championships
Match Writer: SS.
Gerald Grayson and Michelle von Horrowitz of Cthulhu’s Nephews finally won the FWA World Tag Team Championships back at Lights Out, when they overcame Aka Yurei and Reagan Cole of the Spirit Walkers. Since then, the belts have been on the line twice, with the Connection first defeating the impromptu pairing of, um, Anderson Vega and Spooder-Man, and then surviving four other teams at Mile High Massacre on Fallout 025. The end of that match saw Gerald Grayson climb the ladder and retrieve the belts from the underside of the cage roof, spelling the end of the challenges of the Lumberjacks, the Coven, Bad Reputation, and indeed the Undisputed Alliance…
… but Jackson Fenix and Nate Savage weren’t quite so willing to let sleeping dogs lie, with the former winning a triple threat singles match against Doug LuPone and Celeste Ravenwood that earned his team the right to once again challenge von Horrowitz and Grayson for their championships. Last week saw tense words exchanged between the two teams, with Michelle von Horrowitz and Nate Savage particularly hostile towards one another, perhaps owing to their shared past as part of the Clique Wrestling Alliance. This match, the Connection’s third defence of their FWA World Tag Team Championships, will open up the show in Denver, with Cthulhu’s Nephews sure to be at ringside to help things along in their favour.

SECOND MATCH - 1/30
Tommy Bedlam vs. Any member of The Coven.
Singles Match
Match Writer: Dubb.
Thomas Bedlam came close to qualifying for the semi-finals of the F1 Climaxxx, until he was finally put away by Michelle von Horrowitz in his fourth and final pool stage match. None-the-less, Bedlam impressed with respectable performances against former world champions in MvH, Alyster Black, and Gabrielle, and picked up a victory over the current FWA Television Champion Vampyra. Bedlam was back to winning ways on Fight Night: The Final 4 as part of Team Peacock, and in fact teamed with one of his potential opponents in this match in Kleio De Santos. Bedlam - along with us as an audience - will not yet know whether it will be KDS that he faces at Back in Town, or if Celestia or Blair Ravenwood will stand across the ring from him instead, with Jon Russnow announcing in the event’s press release that any one of the three can answer the Cowboy's challenge.
THIRD MATCH - -/-
Logan Darwin vs. Princess Nova vs Madison Gray vs. ???.
Four Way Ladder Match with the prize being a $10,000 Signing Bonus
Match Writer: Man.
Fight Night: The Final Four saw two big name returns, with Mike Parr and Logan Darwin both refamiliarising themselves to FWA audiences. The latter will get the chance to cement his re-signing with the company with a ten thousand dollar signing bonus, though three game competitors stand in his way of doing so, with each of them undoubtedly having their own eyes on this windfall. One is Madison Gray, who the Fantasy Wrestling Alliance announced the signing of earlier in the week, who will take part in her official debut live on pay-per-view. The second is Princess Nova, who we've seen in recent weeks in vignettes alongside her partner Keres. The fourth person in this match-up remains a mystery, though Jon Russnow revealed during a recent press conference that this person is known to FWA audiences, which started the internet rumour mill working with regards to who this mystery fourth could be.
FOURTH MATCH - 1/60
Bryan Baxter (c) vs. Lizzie Rose.
Singles Match for the FWA North American Championship
Match Writer: Dubb.
It was during the F1 Climaxxx, which spanned the eleven FWA television shows that have taken place since we last saw the promotion on pay-per-view with Lights Out, when Bryan Baxter managed to defeat Lizzie Rose in a contest for both F1 points and Lizzie’s FWA North American Championship. Baxter, recently estranged from the man he joined the FWA with a view of looking out for in Jeremy Best, had won this opportunity in Lights Out’s Secular Spook-tacular match, and made the most of it in Fallout 021’s main event.
Meanwhile, however, Lizzie Rose seemed to be allowing a friendship of her own with Jeremy Best to blossom, which did not escape the attention of the man who had just taken her championship from her. In fact, Baxter tried to involve himself in the culmination of Lizzie Rose’s F1 pool stage match-up with Gerald Grayson, inadvertently distracting her so that the Nephew could pick up a flash pin. Tensions continued to flare between Baxter and Rose until this contest was made official, giving Rose a chance to reclaim her prize, which she lost in a week when her focus was divided between that and another title match in Meltdown XXI’s battle royale.

FIFTH MATCH - 1/30
Reagan Cole vs. Bellatrix Bordeaux.
Singles Match
Match Writer: Man.
During late 2022, Reagan Cole once again became embroiled with Jeffry Mason, the man he went to war with during Back in Business weekend. It appeared, at least for a while, that Cole was free of this menace, with the British Apprentice having success in the tag division alongside Aka Yurei. Cole, however, is now trapped in an uneasy alliance with Mason, which he claims to be going along with for the sake of his family. Meanwhile, Bellatrix 'Trixie' Bordeaux recently debuted for the FWA and picked up a victory alongside Team Peacock in last weekend's ten-person tag team match. Reagan Cole was part of Team Golden, who came up just short in that frantic and event-filled match-up, and will no doubt look to avenge that loss in Denver.
SIXTH MATCH - 1/30
Kayden Knox vs. Mike Parr.
Singles Match
Match Writer: Jimmy.
Executive Excellence suffered losses but stood strong at the end of Lights Out, with Danny Toner still holding the FWA World Championship, and two of their number preparing to enter the upcoming F1. Since then, the stable has imploded, with Mike Parr disappearing from FWA television without a word from the man himself as to why. The rest of the stable soon followed him, leaving only Kayden Knox as a regular fixture within the company. Kayden, of course, contributed to some of that himself when he viciously attacked Gabrielle at the beginning of the recent Tag Team Mile High Massacre match, putting the final nail in the coffin of this latest instalment of the classic stable.
It has since become apparent that Knox's actions are the result of the influence of Maxwell Lester, a lawyer who holds seemingly absolute sway over the Afflicted One. Knox, under Lester's instruction, was close to breaking down the door of Fallout commentator Jean-Luc Watkins’ office during last weekend's Fight Night: The Final Four, only to run into the Prodigy and feel the fists of his former partner. Parr would later issue a vicious statement on his absence and the stable that was no more, including a brutal assessment of Kayden Knox. This match, Parr's first in the company for several months, was quickly set up in the wake of the Prodigy's scathing comments.

SEVENTH MATCH - 1/60
Vampyra (c) vs. Shawn Summers vs. Jason Randall vs. Darius Wright.
Four Way Match for the FWA Television Championship
Match Writer: Jimmy.
For much of the build-up to Back in Town, it seemed as though we were destined to see Vampyra defend her Television Championship against Shawn Summers in a one-on-one match. Summers, of course, was persistent in claiming that he never lost the championship in the first place, insisting that the finish of his Lights Out match with Phillip A. Jackson was illegitimate. The recently debuted Vampyra capitalised on Summers’ contested loss, using the title shot she won during the Secular Spooktacular match to dethrone PAJ and get a taste of gold early on in her FWA career. Vampyra and Summers traded barbs on social media and on television, resulting in Der Basterd attacking Vampyra with his faithful baseball bat - the Summers Slugger - only moments after her hard-fought win against the aforementioned Jackson.
Meanwhile, a rivalry between Jason Randall and Darius Wright was beginning to build, with the two repeatedly coming to blows over the second half of the cycle, both in official competition and as extra-curricular. This culminated in a strange bedfellows match on Fight Night: The Final Four, pitting Vampyra and Shawn Summers against Jason Randall and Darius Wright, with the additional stipulation that Wright and Randall would be added to this television championship match should they win. They dutifully did, setting up this fatal four-way for Back in Town.

EIGTH MATCH - 1/60
Cyrus Truth vs. Michelle von Horrowitz.
Singles Match - F1 Climaxxx (Final)
Match Writer: SS.
The F1 Climaxxx has dominated the last eleven shows of FWA Television, as initially twelve but eventually eleven competitors battled it out during the pool stage of this inaugural edition of the tournament. These preliminary matches saw Alyster Black and Bryan Baxter emerge as early favourites in their respective pools, where they went unbeaten and qualified for the semi-finals in first place. Joining them were Michelle von Horrowitz, who was defeated by Black earlier on in proceedings, and Cyrus Truth, who picked up wins over Gerald Grayson, Phillip A. Jackson, and Lizzie Rose on his way to joint second in Pool B. The Exile finished equal on points with Chris Peacock, who would've qualified due to their head-to-head record, but who surprisingly chose to withdraw from the tournament and focus on his World Championship challenge in the main event. This opened up the door for a second chance for Truth, who promptly took it and handed Alyster Black his first tournament loss to join Dreamer - who triumphed over Baxter earlier in the night - in the final.
This F1 Climaxxx final, between Michelle von Horrowitz and Cyrus Truth, could not possibly have contained two competitors who know each other as well as the two still standing do. A year ago, of course, Dreamer and the Exile took part in a hard-fought best of five series, during which their distaste and lack of respect for one another only grew. The pair fought four traditional singles matches and an X Rules contest, with von Horrowitz picking up three wins, Truth one, and the fourth match of the series finishing in a tie. In addition to these five wars in late 2021, Truth and MvH have clashed in both the Elite Tag Team Classic and Meltdown's Tag Warz tournament. Dreamer has had Truth's number in many of these past encounters, and no doubt the Exile will hope to right some of these historical perceived wrongs when they meet in this final.
Another dimension of this match-up is, of course, the prize that they fight for. Alongside being crowned winner of the F1, either Truth or von Horrowitz will also earn a shot at the FWA World Championship in the main event of The Grand March. Both have held this prize before, and are now within an arm's reach of climbing to the peak of that particular mountain once again.

NINTH MATCH - MAIN EVENT - 1/60
Devin Golden © vs. Chris Peacock.
Singles Match for the FWA World Championship (Golden Opportunity Cash-In Match)
Match Writer: Man.
Many thought when Alyster Black finally earned the FWA World Championship in Meltdown XXI's main event, it was the fairytale ending to a long story, in which Black, Devin Golden, and Danny Toner had been the principal protagonists for so long. The FWA main event scene, though, rarely accounts for fairytale endings, and doesn't stand still for long. Devin Golden would return weeks later and, in a shocking and bold move, put his career down as collateral so that he could once more challenge Black Jesus for the top prize. What's more, Golden won, beginning his fourteenth reign with championship gold within the FWA, and his fifth as a world (singles) champion.
Meanwhile, Chris Peacock's time with the Golden Opportunity briefcase was taken up with the ongoing F1 Climaxxx tournament. Disco's Last Warrior earned the briefcase during Lights Out's Steel Roulette match, overcoming six other competitors (including, notably, Golden himself) to finally dispel some of the jibes regarding his inability to win the big one. Some of those murmurs still remain, though, with Peacock yet to convert that briefcase into his first world championship. After earning qualification into the knockout stage of the F1, Peacock would surprise the world by announcing his withdrawal from the tournament, choosing instead to cash in his briefcase and challenge Devin Golden for his newly-won title in this main event.
It is the second consecutive year that Golden's first defence will occur as the result of the Golden Opportunity cash-in, though at least this year he has the opportunity to prepare for it. Whilst Nova Diamond's capture of the championship was shocking and sudden, Chris Peacock has elected to give Golden fair warning that he is coming for him. These two men, of course, know each other very well, having spent the early part of 2022 doing battle, including at Back in Business. The latest instalment of this rivalry will have the added intrigue of the richest prize in the game hanging in the balance.
