IMO the only reason CM Punk came back is AEW is picking up steam, and he is excited by what they are doing.

CM Punk would never be excited about WWE is doing no matter what. And I don't think he'd want to help them reinvent themselves.

Pretty much. I'm pretty sure punk came to fox, where a lot of his commentary still seemed salty. I never got the impression he was excited to be there personally (fox).
