Former WWE Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes posted the following on Twitter:

Some superstars have said the same things on twitter before but have ended up coming back very soon. But maybe Cody is for real since he's not an avid tweeter. Anyway, I'm sure we'll see him again pretty soon and it's some well deserved time off imo.

The "time off" mention by Cody Rhodes on Twitter evidently isn't meant to be taken seriously.

Rhodes is booked on Smackdown tonight and not only that, but was doing local media all morning promoting tonight's show in Wilkes-Barre.

"Time off" is that he was given last night off so he could be in Wilkes-Barre to do early morning drive time stuff live in studio.

There's the answer to the tweet

That's a shame he should really take a break before his run as World champ and carrying smackdown for the next 10 years

Rhodes deserves a WHC run in my opinion. He has worked hard to get where he is and he carried the IC title with some prestige! He made it important again if you think about it. Before his run with the IC title, I honestly couldn't have cared less about it. Now he has brought it back to being a big title in my eyes. I think with a little push from the right superstar, Cody could be a major player.

I like Cody but he hasn't really contributed anything to the title other than the design change. He rarely defended it, and when he lost it to Big Show at Wrestlemania the focus was more on Cody getting embarrassed and Show getting his moment, the championship was secondary. Now that its back on him again, its still just being used as a prop, part of his entrance gear and thats about it.

It's off of him now though. Christian has the strap. That is neither here or now. He made the title interesting though. Idk, maybe it's just a me thing, but seeing him in his run made me really enjoy the IC title and him a lot more.

When the Hell did Christian get the belt?

Also, I'd love to see Cody in a very high profile feud. He and Orton never really buried the hatchet did they?

That Orton feud should have been the perfect one to elevate him into main event status and keep him there. He'll definitely be there by the end of the year, he'd be easy to elevate, he's already fairly popular as a heel, WWE's just gotta' give him a high profile feud.

And Christian won the belt at Over the Limit.

lol Long story on the christian thing. However, like I mentioned my first post, I would love to see him sky rocketed by the right person in the right match/feud. Randy Orton could very well be that person. However, he would have to put his ego aside for three simple seconds. Either way, I think it needs to happen now before they lose the opportunity.

I'm sorry and i don't know how many times i've said this but Cody did nothing for the IC title i think he defended it a total of 5 times he held it the first time which was almost a year. I also think he was ever involved in one feud in which it was over the IC title and that was with Booker which came in December and he won the title in August the other title defenses were just "here's a title match, with zero build", The main focus of Cody was feuding with Orton which lasted 2 and a half months and that at was over personal issues. So once again he did nothing for the title and it's not his fault it's the writers fault.

Here's a list of the times he defended it the first time

vs Ezekiel
vs Ted dibiase
vs Morrison
vs Sheamus
vs Booker T (the only real fued in which Cody Owned him for a entire month)

As things are going currently, I don't think it's fair to say Orton's ego is standing in the way. He's been putting people over consistently for months, starting with Mark Henry when his WHC reign began.

I can't agree with this. Over the past 7 or 8 months, Orton has put over Mark Henry, Wade Barrett, Cody Rhodes and Kane all on Pay-Per-View.

I do think Cody needs to go away for a break before coming back and making his push to the top, but it seems like he's not done with the Intercontinential title yet. He might get the Miz slow push, and towards the end of this year or begginning of next year, he'll get his shot. Royal Rumble always ensures an upper midcarder having a World Title match
