I'm reading the same debate I read on most other Divas threads at this point: the people who hate Divas (or want Trish/Lita/StacyK back) vs. people who are fans of women's wrestling and want their regular fix. By the way, I'm generally in the latter group, just for clarity's sake.
So, to make things a little different, I'll throw my point in (like I'd like to throw my "point" in.....to Paige :gusta: Hey-YO!):
The only real problem I had with the segment is that the longest-reigning Divas Champion in the (admittedly short) history of the Divas Championship just lost the title to a woman who has wrestled a total of one....yes....one match in the WWE (as far as the Universe is concerned; don't know if she's wrestled dark matches before Raw, SD, etc., or at house shows....and it doesn't matter). I get the argument that AJ had just proven her superiority over the entire rest of the division (at the same time, no less), but to debut a brand-new Diva and hand the belt over to her just seems strange. It's very similar to how the Giant/Big Show debuted in WCW and was given the WCW Championship right away. Yes, it's an impact (and, thankfully, WWE has NXT as a going concern, so they know these people can perform), but I'm not sure it's the impact you want people to think about. I mean, if Paige can debut and immediately win the Divas Championship, how come Dean Ambrose couldn't have immediately won the WWE Championship? When Bo Dallas or Adam Rose appear in a few weeks, I highly doubt they're going to be booked to immediately go over Daniel Bryan (or even be in matches with him on their first night).....admittedly, I could be wrong on that, but it doesn't lessen my doubt.
It would have made sense to bring back somebody from WWE's fairly recent past (Gail Kim or Mickie James, both former WWE Women's Champions....although I'm not fully aware of their contract situations), or even to let Lita or Trish come out and play the Paige role and take the title from her. Those are my only points.
