In the last few years I've noticed a trend that trailers are
revealing TOO much information & are kind of spoiling
entire plot lines & scenes in films.

The most recent examples of this being...

&

Now I understand how a trailer can excite & hype up
your potential audience...but I honestly think the studios
need to dial back just how much is revealed & shown
in their trailers.

What do you think?

Are film trailers revealing too much?

Are film trailers being released too early?

Are film trailers flat out spoiling the very films they promote?

Let me know your opinions below...and as always...
I'll see you all around these traps.

I do agree. Much of the scenes is TMI. Sometimes, they may reveal the best parts. Its like, "Shucks, they can't be that silly, can they?"

I agree...

but it's probably a good thing because most movies that come out these days suck lol... I'd rather watch it all in the trailer & move along instead of being tricked into buying a very expensive bucket of popcorn & waste my time

Yeah it is too much.

It is funny too because the movies these days look amazing yet the ones from the 70s, 80s, and 90s had more depth.

I believe that's called "Style Over Substance"
& effects all forms of entertainment these days.

Create a dazzling spectacle that the audience
doesn't have to think about...but when they do
the movie falls apart like a stale graham cracker.

Looking at you Last Jedi...

Absolutely. It's why I refuse to watch movie trailers nowadays. It's either go in blind or go in knowing all the punchlines and the entirety of the plot.

It kinda depends on the movies, really. Because when it comes to Disney trailers, they do a pretty good job of not revealing too much (see Force Awakens/Infinity War/Incredibles 2/Inside Out)

I'm very out of the loop on these things. It sounds familiar when everybody begins mentioning it. Funny, huh? :p

What makes you feel that way?
Because most of the time what is shown in Trailers aren't in the actual movie itself and they don't showcase any spoilers of any kind.

The point of a trailer is to be released early so that people will be interested in them and there is no such thing as "too early" unless we are talking about a movie in 2020 or something.

How would a trailer spoil a film? I mean, you just can't watch the trailer and be like "Oh poop, I have this whole movie figured out."

I see it more as throwing away all the best jokes rather than the entire plot.
