Think it was more or less an insult to hard liners who complained about the nba model not being sustainable. Buss and his family has no other source of income. The Lakers are their team and primary business so he built the brand, marketed his stars, and put the most consistent product of all owners out there through the years, so he finally gets to become a billionaire after all these years. It has to be sustainable and something wrong with the other owners running things of they cant profit basically.
