» When the talk first started of taking the World Title off AJ Styles, TNA wanted to do it on iMPACT to help with ratings but put the belt back on AJ just a few weeks later and have him hold it until Bound For Glory. When the decision came to put the World Title on Rob Van Dam, several officials were against the idea of putting the belt back on AJ just a few weeks later. It's expected that RVD's World Title reign will be a lengthy one, at least through the Summer.

Of course these "several officials" were most likely Hogan, Bischoff, Russo, and probably RVD and Hardy also for the hell of it...

:sigh: RVD could have went to WWE. Made more money and got the WHC or WWE title in a more sensible way along with a good feud. So stupid.

Poor AJ, thats really all I have to say about this. Yea, he had a 7 month reign but the way they took the belt off him is just not right.

I love how when RVD was the WWE/ECW champion the majority of people were behind him. However in TNA he is the devil.

RVD being WWE Champion was different. He put his time in the WWE and really built a following. He was deserving. RVD stepped right in the door of TNA and they almost threw the belt at him. Plus the whole ECW factor was put into his WWE title reign.

RVD's TNA run is putting a sour taste in my mouth.

What? He's by far, hands down the most over guy in the Impact zone. Everyone in the area is freaking out for him when he comes. Hence why he's champion.

You can't spell oVerRateD without the letters R-V-D.

Expect the ratings and profits to continue falling as long as his title reign lasts.

HA! Right. He's champion most likely because Hogan told him he would be within a month or two of his debut if he signed with TNA. He's over because 1) he's RVD and has a following and hasn't wrestled in years and 2) him and Jeff are being pushed as the major faces so of course they're going to cheer for him.

Wow I just thought about this but funny how the guys from WWE are the faces and the guys from TNA are the heels...

RVD is past his Prime. Atleast in WWE he actually earned it unlike within TNA he hasn't earn a DAMN thing.

Uh.. it has nothing to do with how they were 'pushed'. RVD was the most over guy the day he debuted until now. You're denying this? Ok.. the only one near him is Pope. If RVD was given a guaranteed title reign, you would think Jeff would be too. Jeff is a bigger name than RVD in current time. It could be plausible, but the fact remains is that it was justified. That's not the general complaint. The complaint is how they went about doing it, so you're in the minority if you think that he didn't 'deserve' to win the title.

Actually, and just by the looks of this thread, the majority seems to think that RVD doesn't deserve the belt.

The build up for BFG will be shitty. It's always better to have the face chasing the heel for the belt.

I think the sentiments found in the majority of the posts seem to dislike the fact that RVD is the TNA champion. Even though I'm sure that most'dve agree that he deserves to be TNA champion. I don't just agree. I think it's an understatement.

I think so far the majority opinion here is simply... that TNA sucks, and other than having have guys like A. J. and RVD as their champions, which for me is a blessing they hardly deserve, the brand isn't really worth caring for.

I think that most people are just pissed off that they are taking the belt of AJ Styles, one of the last homegrown talent guys they were still "heavily pushing". If you sit down and analize it, yeah, RVD has all the requirements to be champion. Is more mainstream than two quarters of the roster, can still relatively go in the ring and gets amazing pops. I would however critique HOW they put the belt on Van Dam. I mean, did they really had to waste Hardy vs RVD and AJ vs RVD, have AJ lose to a guy that had wrestle 4 times in two consecutive nights and get buried in a promo all in the same night just for the sake of a 1.0 rating?

I've got no problems with RVD winning the TNA title cleanly from AJ as long as it's built up into a major event that I can get excited about.

But that's not what TNA did and I think that's a hugely missed opportunity at not only hype, but buyrates (read MONEY!!).

In fact, they did the exact opposite of what they should have done.
