It doesn't have to be always online. It just needs to connect to the internet once every 24 hours; offline gameplay can and will still occur.

From what I gathered it would be forever. It will be older titles. Not GTA V and the other new releases that he tried segwaying into after. Which was a smart move since people would think "GTA V for free!?" Assasin's 2 and Halo 3 are the games confirmed so far so expect games of that era.
