Bedroom door stays closed because my cat doesn’t get on well with the other cats in the house. Even before that I preferred keeping the door closed.

Sure it does. I'd rather someone have to come through two doors rather than 1 to get to me. We have a lot of crackheads around here that have no shame....but they'd make a lot of noise between my front door and my bedroom door. Enough for me to be waiting on the other side when they come through that second one.

The door has always been open, except for when I had roommates many years ago.

It's also convenient so I can listen our for my children. One of my girls coughs hard of she gets too hot and has a tendency to throw up (evidently she inherited that from me.... as well as my motion sickness). Also, I like for my Shepard to be able to roam through the house freely, because she is territorial and sleeps room to room.

If it's summer, I'll sleep with windows open too.

Door was always closed when I had my dog so that he stayed in the room. Although in the earlier years of his life there were times that I closed the door on him by mistake while he was asleep in the hallway. lol Then id wake up the next morning from hearing him sniff under the door or whimper.

Now, most of the time I still keep it closed at night but there are nights that I don't bother closing it. During the summer I probably will keep it open more as it gets very warm in my room during that time of year.
