Appreciation also comes with the amount of work you do for the company. Cena is appreciated because he works his ass off. I think the same could be said for Miz and a few others who have been working pretty hard.

Hindsight is 20/20 I think what it is, is the fact that your not so engulfed in the moment. Take for example going back and watching Thug Life Cena or Prototype Cena. People will be more honest about his matches then just because it has nothing to do with current storylines now. The storylines sway the opinion even if you claim to be basing it on skill you'll still look at it slightly differently with a fresh pair of eyes.

Yeah I think Prime has it nailed really. It's more a case of hindsight and looking back at things with more of a clear mind, rather than basing your opinions on something which is still progressing and changing week by week.

You look at peoples opinions nowadays on the Attitude Era for example. Generally at the time I would imagine people would of thought it was the hottest shit there ever was because of it's success, but as time progressed it was picked apart for how bad in places it actually was.

I'm actually really curious to see how people view Ryback a few years from now. Whether he will be regarded as a "failed-Goldberg-experiment" or if fans will praise WWE for seeing what he was capable of early and giving him the propulsion he needed.

Aside from that, I really can't think of anyone else in WWE currently that fans thumb their noses at quite like Orton and Cena back in the day. I guess some people would pin Daniel Bryan into this discussion, but he isn't really new to the wrestling scene like Orton and Cena were. He was very much proven before even coming to WWE. Not proven in the skills that have made him successful in WWE, but still. Besides, I doubt anyone really resents DB the way many resented Orton and Cena. Every wrestlers has their share of critics, but DB has nothing on Orton and Cena circa 06 in terms of fan hate.

Think Sheamus and Punk to an extend fit in there. Sheamus gets a lot of shit on the internet not really getting his due for his in ring work and can see people looking back and saying how they overlooked that. Punk I think there will be some people who look back and hail his title reign and current heel run in a higher regard than they do now though Punk probably has a lot more time to go in his heel run.

Do agree with the notion that sometimes some reactions and feelings to stuff is in the heat of the moment and sometimes being able to analyses it afterwards helps.

I really don't see how Punk fits into this discussion at all. The guy has legions of fans and he put in plenty of work in WWE before he won a world title. Punk may have detractors, but you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who claims Punk didn't earn what he has.

As for Sheamus, I know he got that type of resentment at first after he won his first WWE Championship from Cena in 2009, but a ton of time passed between him losing to Triple H at Wrestlemania 26 and him regaining that momentum as a babyface late last year. He's definitely more legitimate this time around.

Nah you really should see some of the reactions to him on other sites (he has some hate on this site as well tho) such as news sites that have comments or even stream chatbox comments Sheamus gets as much hate as ever since he's been pretty much unbeatable since winning the world title. With Punk that's why I said somewhat. He still has his fans and there is some people who respect him but he has some hardcore detractors out there or you get those "give me the old pipe bomb Punk back" shit which I'm sure that will pass in time which is what I was referring to.

Well if people seriously still hate Sheamus for that kind of stuff now, that's just Blue honestly. I'm never a fan of anyone getting a WWE Championship run their rookie year unless he's Brock Lesnar-level, but that probably won't happen again. That's why I wasn't a fan of Sheamus at all in 2009 and I ran him into the ground more time than I can remember. But he's a legitimate contender now and doesn't deserve that type of resentment anymore. I'm fine with people just not liking him because he's not their cup of tea, which isn't something you can argue with. That's all good. But saying he doesn't even deserve to be where he is doesn't make sense. There really aren't many wrestlers in WWE that deserve it more tbh.

Yeah I can get saying Sheamus has a bland character right now but it is a shame he isn't getting more credit for his in ring work and how much he's worked to get to the WHC after getting the quick WWE title push and fall off like many others have had. But of course you got the Triple H effect that never really stopped people thinking he only got and is getting pushed cause Triple H likes him.

I hear all that stuff about Triple H liking Sheamus and all, but you also have to take into account that it was Triple H who put the brakes on him at Wrestlemania 26 and forced the guy to spend the next year and a half climbing back to that spot. The Triple H excuse isn't even correct tbh.
