On the morning of 29 February 2012, Jones was found dead at his Indiantown, Florida home at the age of 66. His publicist announced that Jones had suffered a massive heart attack in his sleep. Jones is survived by his widow Jessica and four daughters
now this might not be a big deal to some of you younger kids but as someone who grew up on this group I have to say this sucks. A great musician with a good number of hits to his name. Now I'm bummed.

Oh okay, I thought you meant like it was your era.

Nothing wrong with it either way, I was just curious.

That's what I thought too. I'm 28 and the Monkees mean next to nothing to me I know of the show and the one song and that's it. I fully expect something similar to Paul McCartney and Billy Crystal to happen.

I know the "Hey Hey we're the Monkeys" song and that's it, lol. I knew of their tv show, my parents listened to them. Mainly my mom though I think, don't think my dad did.

He was definitely a good guy. I remember watching the Monkees sitcom on Nickelodeon as a kid.

^Same for me, I watched the show when I was a kid (only 22 but they showed replays). They were huge in their prime and it is such a shame that he is gone. RIP.

Such a great singer, my mother in fact was in the Herald Sun back when she was 15 for escaping school just to see The Monkees concert which was played near St. Kilda Road, Melbourne at the time.

Such a huge loss.
