oh most definitely. They have every right to do it. And as been previously said dude has a new kid and is getting a steady check so it's good for him. I also doubt he's gonna be WWE/NXT bound so it isn't holding him back really.

I could see him getting over huge in NXT tbh but he'd really need to keep this whole act which he's monetized well on his own and idk how well that jives with WWE MO still

He's monetized his shtick so damn well I can't imagine the incentive of joining NXT, only to sacrifice his independent ability to make money his way. I can very much picture him signing with TNA (kind of a sideways answer to the WWE/NXT thing)
