Wrestling fans around the world are in mourning following the tragic deaths of two stars within the space of a week.

Hana Kimura, a Japanese pro wrestler who also appeared in the latest series of the popular reality show ‘Terrace House’ died on Saturday at the age of 22.

Stardom Wrestling confirmed Kimura's death, saying details are still largely unknown and the group was co-operating in an investigation.

“We are very sorry to report that our Hana Kimura has passed away,” the organisation said in a statement.

Kimura was found dead at her home, Japanese media said.

The tragedy came just days after former WWE star Shad Gaspard drowned after getting in trouble while swimming at Venice Beach in Los Angeles.

Police on Wednesday confirmed Gaspard’s body had been found after he was caught in a rip current.

Gaspard went missing last Sunday after he went swimming with his 10-year-old son, Aryeh.

The boy was rescued and several other swimmers made it out of the water safely, with Gaspard reportedly telling lifesavers to help his son first.

Gaspard, 39, gained prominence in the WWE as one half of the tag-team group Cryme Tyme, along with his partner, JTG.

After retiring in 2010, Gaspard has had small roles on TV and in movies, including the 2015 Kevin Hart comedy “Get Hard.”

He was about 50 metres from shore when he was last spotted by a lifeguard, police said.

A wave crashed over him and he was swept out to sea.

Fans in disbelief over devastating double tragedy

Kimura became the target of massive bullying on social media over her role on the ‘Terrace House’ show on Netflix, which involves three men and three women temporarily living together at a shared house in Tokyo.

The show was temporarily suspended due to the coronavirus.

In her latest Instagram posting Friday, she published a photo of herself and her cat, with a message saying “Goodbye.”

Another posting carried a message “I love you, live long and happy. I'm sorry.”

Her death has triggered a wave of messages on social media against anonymous bullying and hateful messages.

Could May just be a cursed month for those in the wrestling world. It had completely slipped my mind that Supreme had also passed away.

This all comes on the heels of what was the 21-year anniversary of Owen's passing on the 23rd. The same day the news broke about Hana.

Is this not a little too surreal to grasp? It's insane the amount of loss and suffering this community has enduring in a few weeks time.

It's honestly too surreal.

Feels like ever since Owen's death May has been marked as a month of tragedy.

Geez I've been rocked so hard by Hana's death I forgot about Shad earlier in the Week and Owen's passing as well. We are never going to forget their deaths going forward. It still feels like were are on in a nightmare aka Infinite Tsukuyomi to where instead we are in a dream where all our desires happen, we are getting the opposite.

Owen and Eddie's death dates are the only ones I remember, not even that I want to necessarily. I just can't help it, Owen's I think mostly bc it was a PPV and I became a huge fan of him when I went back and watched his work (I was 3 when he died). But literally, May 1 comes around and I start thinking about Owen.

Both of these stories are tragedies, I wish all the best for everyone involved that are affected by these tragedies to be able to cope and get through this in time as best as they can.

:pour I was at my Uncle's watching Over The Edge, so that was just so horrible.

Speaking of Eddie, after he died and I had the tribute shirt of his, every month up until Nov 13th, I would way the shirt on every single 13th. I still wore it sometimes after it had been a year, but not every single month like I had been.

This certainly has been a dark month of us wrestling fans. We all need to cope over their tragedies and remember the positives in their lives and celebrate their wrestling careers.

Same.

I was over my step brother's friends house watched the PPV over there, which is the very first I've seen live. I was very shocked to hear of Owen's passing that night. He will never be forgotten.

I'm still shocked to this day of hearing about Eddie's death. He was in the prime of his career, he battled his personal demons, he had everything going for him. I'm still sad that he's gone. Like Owen, he won't be forgotten.

Don't forget that Macho Man and Elizabeth also died in the month of May.

May is just a fucked up month in the wrestling world.
Davey Boy Smith died in May as well, on the 18th in 2002. :(
