Ok, I figured it was time for us to define the current era of wwe. We all know the past eras... the Golden Age of the 50's, then the second golden age of the 80's and early 90's, and then the graddaddy of em all, the beloved Attitude Era. That lasted from 1997-2003.

After that though, noone has really named any of the "eras"... I would say that 2003-2005 would be "The Rebuilding era" considering they lost the likes of Hogan, Scott Hall, The Rock, Lesnar, Austin, Goldberg, etc during that time... and in a few short years, they had to make Batista, Orton, Cena, and Mysterio, maybe even some others into household names. And they did a good job of that...

But since then, what would our current era be? When did it start? What defines it?

IMO, what defines it, and makes it its own new era is just the complete face of the wwe changing, from Austin, Rock, Hogan, Hart, Goldberg, HHH, HBK, Undertaker, Mankind into Cena, Batista, Orton, Punk, and a few future stars that are on the rise. All the guys that were built up during the rebuilding era...
As for when it started, Id say around 2004, when these current guys hit their stridde... But I dont know what it should be called... And I also dont know if 2004-now is all one era, or if it can be split into two with the recent new look of wwe since the start of 2008.

Thoughts on out current era?

the new breed of superstars. i would say a new era was made in the draft lottery. the new era is upon us. wwe are finally pushing the future of the company. not old wrestlers who cant even fall on there back.

I'm crap at names, but the Entertainment Era springs to mind. Imo, the Attitude Era finished at the latest just before the name change to WWE. So Entertainment would be fitting.

As for who defines it, John Cena. When they go through the list of sensations in the WWE, it'll go Hogan, Stone Cold, Rock, Cena.... Cena has personified the Entertainment Era as "New".

There is no real way to class since the draft as an era since it is a few weeks old.

But i would say we were in the EVOLUTION ERA, which began around the time of Evolution been formed which was early 2003. The era can be summed up well because since then WWE has produced new stars(Cena,Batista, Orton and more) it has also seen the evolution of WWE(New Brands, catering for kids and more that i cant think of right now)

I kind of think from 06 to now should be the rising or something along those lines because WWE has made all the younger and talented wrestlers rise and become big names, Punk rose so much in the past 2 years I think and he is world champ not to mention his ECW title run...and right now marks the era a new era because they are all big so it could be "the comeback era" coz now WWE are coming back with more ratings, so yeah :p

If you think about it this is the Steroids Era, although it has been here before it wasn't until now that people paid attention to it and started fucking things up, for example the feuds and storylines that got cut short because of this.
On the other hand I can say that I agree with it being the Entertainment Era. I guess Cena defines it but I can say that with Punk and all these new guys coming in, its building the road for a new Era wich is more about guys who have indy style of wrestling like Punk and Kofi. And TNA like it or not already started that with Joe,Daniels and AJ. WWE is just catching up.

As Kaedon said in another topic, I like the term "wtfitude" that is defined by CM Punk, against all conventional logic and against ever smark, winning the World Heavyweight Championship.

I reckon this era whatever this is started at Wrestlemania 21. We saw the emergence of Cena, Batista, Edge and plenty of other guys coming through. Then we had Eddie dieing, Smackdown going to Fridays, ECW ONS, all th people getting fired after that PPV, the whole landscape changed

Pffftt...like my white ass is goin' to name a bunch of old eras...

*KenFan thinks twice about it....then gives-in and begins naming eras*

So'z like...
a little history lesson and such...

-THE SUPERSTARS EXISTED
-THE TITLES ARE REAL
-THE ERA WAS AROUND
-but it all...just became...
KenFan'nified!!!!!

so like...back it started like in new york with them mad-mcmahon's macking out in their little garden, one of them went to WISCONSIN once and came back and said...lets call this place "MADISON"...
someone else kind've went like ..."YEAHHHH!!!"
but then...they realized Madison-Garden didn't sound cool enough..
so someone said..."how-bout a shape like a sqaure or something?!"
and so it became birthed and stuff...

MADISON SQAURE GARDEN!!!
and the mcmahon's macked out in their fo-like...ever...

anyways...the

Beginning Era/Bruno's Boner Years 1960-1975 years: "so'z like...the original nature-boy buddy rodgers was like...first federation champ and such...but he faked a heartattack cuz he didn't wanna job to bruno...but mcmahon said "Yo ASS goin-out there...and you're gonna put him over yo-damn-dead body..ya-heard?!?!" and like...since buddy faked his heartattack and didn't want anyone to think he lied...he kind've lazily-lied down and let bruno beat him up...so thus-began the Bruno-Boner-Years....he ruled and owned superstars and such....til he bumped into superstar Billy Graham...
pedro morales and whatever and whoever won the belt aswell around this time, but like...this happened way back to the point of who-cares and such...so like...that means we'll check on the next age..."

-BackLund's Boner/aka The Traditional years 1975-1985: "so like...we had a sniff of sports entertainment with SuperStar Billy Graham (cracker)....but like...at the time, it probably didn't like...wasn't over or something...cuz wrestling in wwwf at that point was like ROH is nowadays...and stuff...so like...ya-had boobie backlund runnin'nutz all over the place with his workout towel and such....then like....that iron-shake dude popped up and said "Not in my house bitch!"....and he won the title....
then Hogan was like...."I hate handle-bar mustaches!"
so he popped in fo-a-peak and won the World-Title!!!...thus-somewhat ended-the-traditional-age of technical wrestling in the WWF at that point and stuff..."

-The Hulk of Homo-Hugging Years/aka Cheesy-children Championship age 1985 -1992: "So in this age...a huge shift(like a weiner) happened in wrestling...it began appearing on mtv and hogan was cool and popular and balding and such...there was a huge like-roster of good characters and some traditional-territoires around and such...but not much, cuz like...the WWF-with hogan were owning and such....lotz of feuds and pill poppin-children sprung up from this age....take-yo-viatiamins and eat-em!!...then if-ya-overdose...star in a bAtman MOVIE!!!...said a heroic hogan...
anywho....lots of great boom-period and such moments....cuz like it was popular like that napolean dynomite film...ya-heard?!"

-The Gay-Gimmick-years 1992-1997: "so like...roids and such...hogan and all them basically bailed...leaving mcmahon going all like WHoa...I don't know what to do!?!?!....so like...HBK/Hitman/Undertaker basically were the only guys to carry the company....this age is notable for sucking....cuz like...too much gimmicky-characters and nobody gave a rat's ass about it..."

-Bald Business Boom(attitudeyears) 1997-2002: "This is where Stone Cold Rose and Became(came..tehe) world wrestling federation champion and then wcw decided..ohh-shit...we need more bald-badasses!!!...so goldberg came up and such....anyways...load of kickass characters and gimmicks and wrestling-workers...which of course equals to a "KA-BAM!" period in wrestling...where its popular and such..."

-MidLife Crisis/GayGimmick age part 2/Stale-Show period..2002-2006:
"During this period, most of the popular guys left and such....raw was having Blue storylines....nothing much was poppin....all the young guys seemed sucky.....smackdown was all trying to look legit and such with their angles/benoits/guerrerios/lesnars and such....along with some stale-storylines and whatever....lets not talk this era...cuz it sucked...

-Tha Hood of Happiness/BuzzCuT Business Boom 2006-?: "So we have Orton/Kennedy/Cena/Batista/etc...with their buzz-cutz..and all them main man's in the business and such...baiscally here we have a good roster, some improved and better booking/ a motivated company....and alot of good workers that can actually wrestle...so welcome to the NOW-AGE!!!...or era of epic-ness...ya-heard!?!?!"

and so caps the KenFan history-Lesson or something...

ya-heard?!
