- The Wrestling Observer reports that Colt Cabana recently had two tryouts with WWE as a color commentator but at last word, no job has been offered yet. The tryouts were set up by CM Punk.
I'd certainly be open for this and would give it a shot, at least he'd in touch with the audience of today unlike Lawler who is so far out of touch it's unreal. It's not like they're short of shows for him to be trialled on either.

He can at least work a match in case WWE decides to do the "commentator vs wrestler" storyline again and not look like he's ready to die. Would be smart for WWE to do this for sure.

That would be an awesome addition to commentary to have someone more modern doing it and someone who is funny as hell. Would be bittersweet since I would like to see him get a fair shot as a wrestler in WWE but this would be pretty cool to see.

Guy got you can't wrestle chants in FCW of all places. He's fine in commentary though, but Im not really sure who I would pair him with outside Striker

Because the FCW fans are a highly regarded crowd right?

I love how you always bring that up as if it is supposed to be some kind of validation against the guy. Guy has wrestled all over the world but none of that matters because a handful of fans in FL decided to show they didn't know what they were talking about.

Hopefully he replaces that shit-for-brains idiot Lawler but that seems unlikely.

Put him on nXt so the IWC can have a nerdgasm at him calling Chris Hero matches.

Maddox already does that.

And yes it matters, if he can't get over in wwe small leagues and work that crowd to win them over, he needed to reevaluate something because the likelihood of him getting a raw or sd audience behind him was minuscule. Apparently he realized it too if he's looking to announce over wrestle, much like striker, he realized he was better off in another role

For one that crowd isn't a good indication of who will be over or not. Two John Cena still to this day will get you can't wrestle chants from smarks trying to be funny. That doesn't mean it validates that he can't wrestle.

It's a foot in the door, and that's all you can ask for sometimes. If he gets hired as a commentator, there's no telling where his career could go in a few years. I'd be happy if WWE took him any way they could get him at this point.

If they give him a decent spot with the chance of progressing then I think he could do worse, other wise it maybe better sticking to being a big fish on the indie circult.

I'm curious on how WWE would have one try out for a commentator spot. Does WWE place him on FCW colour commentator for the tryouts or do they just stick him in a room and commentate a pre-taped match from RAW?

Personally I find him hilarious, and I think he'd be an awesome addition to the team. Also I can't see him NOT get a job in the WWE, having a few friends in high places (Punk, Bryan) so unless if WWE really cares about the FCW crowd or if he fucked really badly then I think we'll see him sometime soon in the near future.

I'd be cool with this, the dude isn't bad as a wrestler at all, but I think I'd prefer him much more as a commentator.
