Don't people love those two for their bumping? Has DZ ever sold an injury consistently in fact? He did his arm for a while before vaulting over the top rope and scurrying up the ladder at MITB.

He did sell it afterwards IIRC.

But also, adrenaline > pain

Okay, maybe I was exagerating with the overselling. Like I said, I'm a Punk mark. It's not easy finding faults in The Rock, unfortunately.

Loved this post.

It's a great thread though, stimulates great discussion. One criticism I think is real is the lack of variation in Rock promos, especially when he is considered by some as the greatest mic worker of all time (not by me). I think the IWC is starting to forget how damn good Punk is on the mic, we are witnessing one of the greatest mic workers in a long time (or ever) in my opinion, each promo seems a pleasure to listen to.

Preferance: The Rock. Why? Dude's real. Phil Brooks isn't.

CM Punk isn't real? Lol. CM Punk is the realest wrestler on the roster (or close to it.) The Rock is the phony - a novelty actor who has no respect for the WWE aside from what he can milk from it.

You mean by thrusting both arms in the air with the case? People hate on Sheamus for it but DZ does it and gets praised for it, his bumping is sick don't get me wrong but his selling needs work.

I appreciate Punk's ability on the mic I just don't like him currently for me it just feels his promos are too long atm and very samey.

I know he is great on the mic I think that is why I'm so critical though.

I just think The Rock is by far the better "superstar". He's a top 5 guy in the history of "sports entertainment" imo. Punk comes no where close to that.

True. I think people are getting complacent with Punk and under-appreciating him. He really does deserve more respect.

Punk called DB a goatface, but didn't Rock call him an Oompa Loompa?

And Jose I also didn't get what you meant by saying Rock is real.

Unfortunately it's mainly because of his die-hard marks who come onto forums and claim him to be the BITW at everything in life. The hype surrounding him has made quite a few people fed up I think. I fear the same will happen to my boy Ambrose.

Being a mark is fine, and showing that is even better, but when people constantly start arguments and think their favourite is Gods gift it becomes a problem :(. We need more mature marks who actually discuss why they like their favourite wrestler, like yourself. :)

The Rock is known for his corny/childish jokes/insults.

Punk isn't packaged as a 'superstar,' that's one of his biggest appeals to the 'fanboys.' He's the underdog, the guy that shouldn't be there. He inspires people to beleive in him because people love an underdog. He may not be in the top 5 yet, but in time it's possible.

True. Always the same thing. Whenever the marks start saying how good a guy is (and marks always exaggerate on that) it becomes "cool" in the IWC to trash the guy.

I know, which is exactly why I don't think mentioning Punk making corny jokes is a fair way to deem his mic skill as inferior to Rock's.

It's funny because over-hype was the exact reason it took CM Punk so long to get to the top. He was hyped up so much from his indy work and by Paul Heymen that people would look at him and go meh. He just couldn't live up to the hype and people ignored him. Same thing happening now in a way.

Even funnier thing is that the IWC absolutely fucking adored him when he wasn't on top and constantly whined and whined about how he wasn't pushed, and then he finally gets put at the top and people start to hate on him. Hipsters and all that jazz.

Old Rock > Punk

Punk > Current Rock

I'm a big Rock mark but I have to be honest on this one. We all have to remember Rock was able to say whatever the fuck he wanted back in the day. I sure Punk gets a bit of freedom, but he has to cover a lot of bullet points given to him by the writers ie.p: BITW, reign, respect.
