On a serious note, his retirement wouldn't exactly be a big shock. I wish he'd come out in January and just said that's what was happening, as it would have saved everybody a lot of speculation. But, really, he's retired.
It sounded like he himself didn't really know what he wanted to do for awhile there, maybe all that time sitting away from the company was beneficial to him I mean he's getting married and such who knows.

Although I wouldn't be utterly shocked if they are smokescreening, mainly because of the location of the PPV.

I use to be a fan of his till I realized how big of a cry baby he is and how self absorbed he is. People would have killed to be where he was in the WWE and even just financially, but no, that wasn't good enough.

He never actually says that he is retired though, this is just another case of a 'celebrity' answering a difficult question without really answering it.

MJ was retired, Jay-z was, but people just eat it up hard. Dude is probably going to sell out his merch regardless of him competing for said july show. The CM Punk chant's are going to be absolute annoying as hell though.

Waco's wife is gonna be bummed when he goes back to moaning "oh phil" when they are doing the deed.

Offtopic but, Jay-Z came to your mind first over Brett Favre :)

What's difficult about the question "What's it like to be retired at the age of 35?" I feel like that would be pretty easy to answer maybe that's just me though.

I was never a Favre guy tbh, i relish the conversations here with his fangirls over his time with the Jets and how he shit on every Packer mark ever via the Vikings.

Also i have a friend who is retired at 35, and his life sucks from what I can tell. Tons of cash, brings up not working all the time and yet isn't doing anything cool. From what i read about Punk though, it sounds like he has a lot of other interests, so who knows.

Because he's never really acknowledged what went on, so it's still an awkward thing to bring up, IMO, anyway.

True.
Technically someone is never retired from their sport unless they hand in their papers and I'm sure we would've heard something about that by now. It's not enough to say "I retire", he's still on the roster page, he's still technically "signed" there was never any word about him being "let go" from his contract.. If he wasn't retired Payback this year is the spot to make his return. I think he's still in talks with the WWE about plans or something mostly because he's still on the official roster.

Exactly, so this really doesn't confirm anything

They're likely just keeping him on the roster until his contract is up in July (in the false hope that maybe they can get him back before then.)

Or because they are still making a lot of money from his merchandise which they are allowed to sell until his contract expires

Well... that, too.
