Chikara - Season X

The best wrestling company in America, Chikara, is celebrating their tenth season in business. Get your hands on any of their shows this year as they have been some of the funnest and exciting wrestling shows of the year.

Some current storylines to get you in the mix:

- Quack and Jigsaw defeated the BDK at the season nine finale for the Campeonatos de Parejas (tag titles)
- The Osirian Portal adds a third member, Hieracon, who proves to be one of the crispest wrestlers on the roster.
- Ultramantis Black's feud with Kizarny and The Batiri leads to UMB hooking up with Hallowicked once again. With Frightmare, they plan on freeing Delirious from BDK's mind control and The Batiri from Kizarny's control.
- Eddie Kingston DOES NOT respect Claudio Castagnoli and never will. Much violence has occurred.
- The Throwbacks went from comedy act to serious threats when The Lumberjacks (Brodie Lee and Grizzly Redwood) took them lightly and didn't think they'd fight back.
- A singles tournament named in honor of Larry Sweeney, the 12 Large Summit, involves the Chikara roster voting on deserving people with the highest vote getters being allowed into the round robin tournament to crown Chikara's first singles champion.
- BDK' competent ring announcer Jakob Hammermeier proves to be a more than competent wrestler.


I'll start posting my Chikara reviews from season X soon. I'm waiting on the Aniversario shows to arrive in the mail and then I'll start by going back to the first show of the year.

I have heard and read many great things about CHIKARA but am yet to see an event. I may have to buy one of their DVD's when they have a sale to check out what this company is about. What event would you recommend for someone that has never viewed the product before?

From this year the King of Trios by far, all three nights were fantastic and the last night had some clear match of the year contenders, especially X-Pac vs. El Generico and The Colony vs. FIST.

They're $15 each so for value the Best of 2010 set is probably the way to go since it's only $20 for such a content stacked DVD (3 DVD's to be precise!)

On your recommendation I am going to order the Best of 2010 DVD, I don't think that I can go wrong with it.

Before I order it I have one question what Region are CHIKARA DVD's? Are they Region 0?

I am a fan of CHIKARA and they had some great matches last year so that DVD comes recommended. Not sure what region it is they are a US based company. I wouldn't say they are the best wrestling company in America, as I have seen them, DGUSA, and ROH live in 2010-2011 and there show is a distant 3rd but it is a very solid promotion worth looking into.

They should be all regions since they ship all over the world.

The DVD's I've received from them work fine for me.


Also, unfortunately they don't give background on the matches that are on the Best of 2010 set. You'll pick it up pretty easily but the main story line was the formation of the BDK at the end of season eight (including them having a crooked referee) and their war against Chikara.
