Movies Charlize Theron will play the villain in Fast and Furious 8

It's sometimes said that heroes are only as good as their villains, and Luke Evans and Jason Statham have proven worthy adversaries for Vin Diesel & co in the last two entries of the Fast and Furious franchise. If the latest cast addition for the next instalment is anything to go by, the Shaw brothers could be one-upped.

Deadline is reporting that Charlize Theron has officially signed on to play the villain in Fast and Furious 8. This reunites the Mad Max: Fury Road heroine with director F. Gary Gray, whom she worked with on the 2003 remake of The Italian Job.

Simply put, this is PERFECT casting; Theron is one of the best actors working today and is a great addition to an already impressive ensemble. Whether she's playing the third Shaw sibling or not, I'm looking forward to witnessing her interacting with Dwayne Johnson and co next year.

Directed by F. Gary Gray and starring Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Charlize Theron, Kurt Russell, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, and Jason Statham, Fast and Furious 8 is due to open in the US and UK on April 14, 2017

Yeah I heard about the news on this days ago, loved her in Mad Max: Fury Road, and I think she'll do find here. Maybe her character vs Letty? I mean Letty has fought Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano and held her own in those fights.

Yeah it would be very different, wouldn't mind to see something like that coming. I mean how many times can Vin's character save the day and beat the big villain in the flick.

The last one made over $1.5 billion at the box office, so there's your answer. They're definitely shit (although I found the last one outrageously entertaining in that train wreck sort of way) but if they're making that kind of dough there's no way the studio would be foolish enough to stop.

True, it probably won't hit massive numbers like the last one, but even Furious 6 did almost $800 million. If there's one thing this proves, it's that people love spending their money on stupid shit.

Actually, they've already gone ahead and announced release dates for 9 and 10. 9 is set for April 19th, 2019 while 10 is April 2nd, 2021. The plan is for this one to kick off a new trilogy, so unless it bombs hard I'd say those two will be going ahead.
