WTSP 10 News Tampa Bay reports the Casey Anthony court has delivered a verdict of innocent. Anthony was found not guilty of having killed two-year-old daughter Caylee by covering her mouth with duct tape to keep her from crying. The Casey Anthony verdict came after 33 days of accounts and a couple of days of closing arguments and rebuttals.

Guilty might have meant the death penalty

A jury of seven women and five men reached a judgment in the Casey Anthony trial Tuesday on the afternoon of the first full day of deliberation following the prosecution's closing rebuttal Monday at 11 a.m. EST. Court clerk Karen Delpilar delivered the conclusion.

The Anthony court deliberated for almost six hours before being dismissed Monday evening by Judge Belvin Perry. On Tuesday, the jury re-convened at 8:30 a.m. EST.

Casey Anthony would have faced the capital punishment within 48 hours after the verdict was made, or another possible penalty, if 25 year old Anthony had been convicted of first-degree murder, court spokeswoman Karen Levey told the media before the judgment was read

Court was hard to discover

In post-verdict remarks, Judge Perry spoke on the jury selection for the Casey Anthony trial. He said it was not simple to do. The murder trial had a ton of coverage. This was especially true near were Anthony was living in Central Florida's Orange County. Thus, the 12 jurors and five alternates were selected from Tampa Bay in Pinellas County area and sequestered at an Orlando hotel. States indicate that numerous prospective jury members had to be dropped on account of bias and related reasons.

Deciding she drowned

According to Casey Anthony's defense, Caylee Anthony drowned. This happened on June 16, 2008 in the family pool. Her body was supposedly found by George Anthony. This was Caylee's grandfather. According to CBS News, Casey Anthony said that there were "years of sexual abuse at the hands of her father" which taught her to lie continually. This was why she didn't report the death.

George Anthony was called to the stand by prosecution to be able to refute claims related to sexual abuse. Perry instructed defense not to reference sexual abuse in closing argument, as the judge believed it had not sufficiently been proven.

Anthony did mislead

While Casey Anthony was not convicted on charges of first- or second-degree murder, manslaughter, third-degree felony homicide, aggravated manslaughter of a child, or aggravated child abuse, she was found guilty of providing false information to police force during the investigation into Caylee's death. Anthony may receive up to four years in prison for providing false information concerning Caylee, who had been considered a missing person at the time.

The conclusion for Casey Anthony

Was political commentator & comedian Bill Maher out of pocket for the tweet he sent Kim Kardashian last night?
In a cheap shot that was heard around the world, Bill blasted Kim Kardashian for being upset with the Casey Anthony verdict when her father was a part of the legal team that helped OJ Simpson get off for his ex-wife’s murder. Earlier this week when it was announced that Casey Anthony would be acquitted for the murder of her young daughter (Casey claims her daughter accidentally drowned and she tried to cover up the death), celebrities and media personalities took to twitter to voice their disagreement of the non guilty verdict. Kim Kardashian was one of them who tweeted in outrage:
“WHAT!!!!???!!!! CASEY ANTHONY FOUND NOT GUILTY!!!I am speechless!!!”
In response to her tweet, Bill Maher posted to twitter yesterday:
“Kim Kardashian is upset with Casey Anthony verdict? Ur father defended O.J.! Starting the Kardashian tradition of getting black men off”
Ouch!
Though Kim has yet to specifically respond to Bill’s comment, she did have words for all who found her tweet surprising, saying:
“Reading the comments here & its nuts people think just because I was close to the OJ trial I can’t have my own opinion on the Casey Anthony case?”

This is me nitpicking, but she was never found innocent. She was found not guilty. And on top of that, the jury didn't have to accept anything the defense said, even though they found her not guilty. I know a lot of people are angry about this, and I think they're angry for the wrong reasons. The jury did what it was supposed to do.

Am I the only person who doesn't give a shit about this case? Ok, she killed her kid...that happens multiple times every day, what makes her so special to get all this national media attention when other cases like it fly under the radar?

Um...how often are mothers accused of killing their children exactly? Nevermind leaving their body in a car for a month and going out partying? This is a pretty much unique case.
