Matt Hardy Vs. The Great Muta
BTB Match Writing Tournament
D2 Vs. E2
Backstory:
After being drafted to the land of Extreme, Matt Hardy was prepared to partake in practically carrying the ECW Brand on his own shoulders. Without so much of a large lineup of big named stars, this was Matt Hardy's chnace to finally prove himself of Main Event worthy status. He had some major road blocks to overcome however, namely, Mark Henry. Upon dropping the United States championship to Elijah Burke at The Great American Bash, Matt Hardy was poised to take on Mark Henry for the ECW Championship at Summerslam.
But someone had other plans.
During their epic confrontation, with Matt Hardy seemingly ready to take his rightful place in the annals of wrestling history as a World Champion, something unexpected happened.
Just as Matt Hardy was about to finish Mark Henry off with his patented Twist of Fate Trademark Manuever, a mysteriously masked man to most American viewers arrived on the scene and brutally struck Matt Hardy in the forehead with an ice pick. But to those who hadn't been buried by the WWE mantra for years knew exactly who this was, and were nevertheless shocked by the appearance of The Great Muta in a WWE ring. The assault continued as Great Muta battered the man who would not die and left him in a pool of his own blood, granting him the match via Disqualification, but at a price of Mark Henry retaining the title.
His dreams vanished behind the veil of a crimson mask, Matt Hardy was hellbent on revenge. As it had turned out, Vince McMahon had made an exclusive deal with the promotions of All Japan and New Japan allowing Muta to free up his touring schedule in order to help bring in ratings to the WWE. Needless to say, this cost alot of money, and Vince McMahon did not want to waste such opportunities on someone as untested as Matt Hardy.
But life would still not be so simple for Vince McMahon and The Great Muta. It on with the weeks leading up to the amply named pay per view, Unforgiven, that Vince McMahon had attempted to make his money's worth out of The Great Muta. Pitting him up against some of his more popular superstars in weekly "Dream Matches". It was Matt Hardy however, who repeatedly ruined these encounters by running to the ring, and predictably getting escorted out of the arenas by security.
Finally, the WWE Chairman had had enough. He agreed to allow Matt Hardy to face The Great Muta at Unforgiven, under the understanding that if Matt Hardy could not defeat Muta, then he would be suspended indefinitely from the company until the WWE were able to collect enough of his pay checks to pay off the difference of losing the value of McMahons previous Great Muta matches on RAW and Smackdown's prior.
And so, with his chance for ultimate vengeance on the horizon, can Matt Hardy overcome the enigma that is Muta? Or is the Japanese legend too crafty and simply too dangerous even for Version 1 to handle?
WWE Presents: Unforgiven
Matt Hardy Vs. The Great Muta
Jim Ross:
Ladies and gentlemen what a night is has been here at Unforgiven! We have had some incredible contests, but i don't think there is a single match up tonight that is more personal and more emotional, than what we are about to witness right here.
Jerry Lawler:
I have to agree with you on that one JR! The Great Muta, live on Pay Per View with the WWE!
Jim Ross:
It all started when Muta interfered in the ECW World Title Match last month at Summerslam, and ever since Matt Hardy has been itching for this chance to get some pay back!
Jerry Lawler:
Matt Hardy is just a sore loser. He didn't keep his eyes open when it counted, and Muta almost plucked them right out of his sockets, haha! Muta is gonna teach Matt Hardy what happens when you don't wait your turn and disrespect the boss, let alone a legend like him!
Ding Ding Ding!
With both competitors in the ring, Matt Hardy immediately charges into the corner towards The Great Muta, who wisely slips himself in between the ropes forcing the referee to step in the middle of the two superstars and the fans in attendance boo voraciously at this initial act of cowardice on behalf of The Great Muta. Matt Hardy is still trying to get a crack at his temporary nemesis, but Muta slyly jams his thumb to the throat of Hardy and causes him to stumble sideways due to the choking effect of the strike. The fans continue to boo as Muta delivers a bionic elbow to the top of the head of Matt Hardy, and then then transitions into a side headlock, spitting green mist over the ropes mocking the audience reaction to his tactics.
Jim Ross:
Are you seeing this King? The man runs away like a scalded dog in the ropes, and then lands a cheap shot on Matt Hardy to gain the advantage!
Jerry Lawler:
That's what you get when you are overzealous JR. Hardy should have known better to pace himself instead of going straight after a guy as crafty as The Great Muta.
Muta continues to grind away at the ears and neck of the man who will not die, before throwing him unceremoniously into the turnbuckle and climbing to a mount position, attempting to rain down strikes onto his opponent. But Matt Hardy, in a moment of wisdom is able to slip under his opponent and pull down the legs of Muta causing him to come crashing down face first on the turnbuckle. The fans roar in approval as Matt now begins to stomp a mud hole straight into his foe with hatred in his eyes, the kicks becoming faster and faster until he lifts Muta up again and runs from the corner planting his opponent with a picture perfect bulldog!
Jerry Lawler:
He can't do that, he's using exessive force!
Jim Ross:
Better to use exessive force than seeing Muta using exessive dirty tactics.
Matt Hardy now climbs up to another turnbuckle, putting himself in a seated position on the top rope, legs on the middle. He stands himself up and taunts to the crowd with his V1 hand signals, and then flies through the air, looking to drop Muta with a patented leg drop but no! The Great Muta able to escape at the last second, and Matt Hardy lands bad on his right thigh. He attempts to limp back to a standing position but the catlike Muta is able to run against the ropes and hits a Shining Wizard across the face of Hardy! Great Muta goes for a cover.
One....
Two....
Kickout!
Muta will not be denied however as he grabs Matt by a thick mane of hair and throws him back into the corner, smashing his head against the turnbuckle. He begins to unload with some vicious chops to the chest, before Matt Hardy starts to get that fire burning in his eyes once again, and dares Muta to hit him! The fans are going wild, only fueling the adrenaline rush flowing through their hero now, as Muta goes for an overhand punch, which Matt Hardy responds with a strike of his own! Chop by Muta, and counter attacked with a stiff forearm across the face! Faster and quicker is Hardy as he begins to unload onto Muta with heavy strikes, before the Black Ninja is able to deliver a sickening back kick to the right leg of Hardy, causing him to fall to the mat, much to the chagrin of the fans.
Jerry Lawler:
Haha! If you can't beat em in the stand up, take em down a knotch or two!
Jim Ross:
What he's doing is taking advantage of an unfortunate situation with Matt Hardy's injured leg. Ever the opportunist, Great Muta will find any way he can to win.
Muta now takes a hold of the damage leg, and whips it opposite of Matt's body, forcing him to scream out in pain. Muta places the appendage on the bottom rope, and viciously springboards himself up and back down against with incredible force upon Matt Hardy's leg. Sensing defeat, The Great Muta drags Hardy to the center of the ring, and applies the Muta Lock! The fans all clamor to the aid of Matt Hardy, cheering him on as the move is firmly applied.
Jim Ross:
I am not sure what the benefit of this specific submission hold will be after all that work on the leg, but it is effective none the less!
Jerry Lawler:
With injured legs, Matt Hardy's not in any condition to try and crawl his way to the ropes, he's just in too much pain!
Indeed the hold seems to be irreversibly applied to V1, who can only scream in excruciating pain at the damage that is being ravaged across his body by The Great Muta. And yet, despite all of the pain, Matt Hardy is still faithfully holding on tight, refusing to tap out, and refusing to submit to the pain. Eventually, Great Muta grows tired of the hold and with his frustration of failure, Muta releases the hold and begins to stomp viciously on the head and arms of Matt Hardy. He crawls outside of the ring, and looks to be grabbing some sort of foreign object.
Jim Ross:
What in the world is he doing now?!
Jerry Lawler:
He's just grabbed that same Ice Pick he used against Matt Hardy last month at Summerslam! He's going to bust him wide open!
Great Muta now slinks back into the ring like a venomous serpent, stalking his foe. The referee steps in however, reminding Muta that this is not a No Disqualification match, only to become struck by The Great Muta right between the eyes for his efforts!
Jerry Lawler:
Ah!! The Great Muta just knocked out the referee!
Jim Ross:
What a despicable human being, is that man right there!
The Great Muta, now without distractions holding him back, rears up and charges at his opponent, but Matt Hardy is able to scout the manuever, and rolls through! He comes back, kicking Muta in the stomach, and delivers a Twist Of Fate! Matt Hardy with the Twist Of Fate on Muta!
Jim Ross:
Yes, this could be all!
Jerry Lawler:
But there is no referee!
Indeed it is true, Matt Hardy hooks the leg of Muta, as the fans count in excitement all the way to a seven count before another official finally sprints down to the ring and administers a count.
One.....
Two....
thre----Kickout!!!
Jim Ross:
No way! Bah Gawd what a match!
Jerry Lawler:
I don't believe it JR!
Matt Hardy now looks to the audience as if searching for an answer. What is it that Matt is going to have to do in order to put Muta away? It is just then that Matt Hardy's eyes creep over to the Ice Pick laying next to the prone body of The Great Muta. A wicked smile etches itself across the lips of V1 as he reaches out for the Pick and prepares to use it in the ultimate form of poetic justice. Unfortunately, the referee steps in once again and takes the foreign object away from Matt Hardy, who turns around just in time to receive Green Mist to the eyes!
Jerry Lawler:
Ah! Green Mist! Great Muta just used the Green Mist JR!
Jim Ross:
God damn Muta! Don't let it end this way!
Great Muta springs back up to his feet and delivers an inverted atomic drop to Matt Hardy, running off the ropes and connecting with a second Shining Wizard kick, forcing Matt Hardy back to the mat. The referees attention returns to the match just in time for Great Muta to ascend the top rope and execute the Rounding Body Press! The referee now gets into pinning position.
One....
Two.....
Three!!!!!!!!!!!
Ding Ding Ding!
Lilian Garcia:
Here is your winner, The Great Muta!
Jerry Lawler:
I told you JR! Great Muta has taught Matt Hardy a lesson here tonight!
Jim Ross:
This makes me sick, now Matt Hardy has to stay at home, suspended, without pay, until Vince McMahon deems that he has paid his dues for runing his weekly dream matches.
Jerry Lawler:
To give credit where credit is due, i think both of these men sure made their money's worth for Mr. McMahon. Case in point, you don't mess with The Great Muta!
