BROWNS FOR SALE
A Cleveland Tale

CHUDZINSKI, LOMBARDI OUT AS COACH, MANAGER

Cleveland Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski and General Manager Michael Lombardi have been dismissed following a disappointing 2013 season in which the team went 4-12. Chudzinski expresses shock and surprise over his firing, but thanks the Haslam family for the opportunity. The 2013 Cleveland Browns were marred by on-the-field and off-the-field issues; a lack of competitiveness as well as their star Wide Receiver Josh Gordon falling under the ire of the NFL's Substance Abuse Policy. This ended in Cleveland's 6th consecutive losing season and 11th consecutive year without a playoff appearance, the longest in franchise history.

Coming in as interim general manager would be Ray Farmer, the current Assistant General Manager. Jimmy Haslam stated that the draft and this offseason are a priority before searching for a head coach. What this could mean is that next year's season may also be a rebuilding year under a new regime while Farmer serves as the stop-gap. Many are questioning the Haslam family's decision to undergo this kind of strategy for the draft. We'll be sure to keep all subscribers informed of any updates...

Gilbert, Manziel Top Off Cleveland's Draft

The Cleveland Browns finished up their 2014 NFL Draft with several high-profile picks that may turn into the future of the franchise within the next several years. The two major picks were Cornerback Justin Gilbert out of Oklahoma State, taken 8th overall. This pick was possible thanks in part to a series of trades between the Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings. The 6'0", 200 lb Cornerback was an All-American in 2013, and a three-time All-Big 12 player. The second high-profile player came with the 22nd Overall Pick and became highly touted Texas A&M Heisman-winning Quarterback Johnny Manziel. Johnny "Football", as he's called by Aggies fans, had debatably one of the most dominant years as a College player in 2012, where he won the Heisman, SEC Offensive Player of the Year, AP & Sporting News College Football Player of the Year, All-American, the Manning Award, and the Davey O'Brien Award. This pick came as controversial after questions arose about Manziel's ability to learn NFL playbooks, as well as his decision-making and fundamentals.

The Browns decided to take a dive into the Manziel sweepstakes despite these questions, while many were calling for Teddy Bridgewater, who inevitably fell to the Vikings. This included a supposed $100,000 survey that the Browns undertook that also concluded that Bridgewater was the superior choice. Other draft choices were Offensive Guard Joel Bitonio in the 2nd Round, Linebacker Christian Kirksey, Running Back Terrance West in the 3rd Round, and Cornerback Pierre Desir in the 4th.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Scott Anderson to become Browns General Manager/Head Coach

Newcomer to the NFL Head Coaching scene, Scott Anderson (Age 39), is set to become the new General Manager and Head Coach of the Cleveland Browns. Anderson made waves in Division II college football, as the head coach of the Minnesota State University of Mankato Mavericks, where under his leadership, the Mavericks made the D-II College Playoffs three years in a row, winning one NCAA D-II Championship in 2013. During his stint at MSU, Anderson also worked as an executive for the board of directors and intends to utilize his experience in the Browns organization. Supposedly, other major names discussed were Mike Zimmer, Mike Pettine, Bill O'Brien, Jim Caldwell, Ken Wisenhunt, and Hue Jackson. A majority of those names were hired before Browns owner Jimmy Haslam had a chance to interview them, however. Anderson's coaching record at MSU was 38-5.

Haslam admitted that it was Anderson's personality and vision that won him over. Anderson is set to take over during the 2014 offseason. The NFL world is both intrigued and curious to see what a small college head coach and executive will do to shake up a franchise that has seen nothing but disaster and misery since returning to the NFL in 1999. In his first official media scrum as the executive since the announcement, Anderson spoke to several reporters and other personnel and spoke of what needs to be done to turn this franchise around, "Well, it first comes down to personnel. I've got nothing against anyone that came before me and those who worked hard to try and give this team a modicum of success, but it appears to me that everything from top to bottom needs a refresh. I intend to bring in several people under my leadership that will help propel this franchise back into not only contention but relevance." Anderson also mentioned the importance of coaching and putting players into positions to succeed. Finally, when asked about the possible loss of Josh Gordon to suspension for a failed drug test, Anderson didn't mince words, "I like Gordon, he's a hell of an athlete, but if he decides that he doesn't want to focus on the game and do what's right, not only for the team but his career, then he doesn't need to be here."

We'll be sure to continue to give updates as the weeks continue.

Washington's Kyle Shanahan, Ohio State's Mike Vrabel to join Cleveland Browns

New head coach and general manager of the Cleveland Browns, Scott Anderson, announced two big hires to his coaching staff, former Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan will be joining the Cleveland Browns, and young Ohio State coach Mike Vrabel is set to become defensive coordinator for the team coming into the 2014 season. Kyle Shanahan was noted for solid offensive play-calling and for helping the Redskins win the NFC East division title in 2012. Mike Vrabel, a three-time Super Bowl champion with the New England Patriots, was a defensive line coach for Ohio State last year, before becoming convinced to take up defensive playcalling for Scott Anderson's new-era Cleveland Browns. With Shanahan's flashy offense and Vrabel sticking to the old Ohio State defensive strategies, it appears that Anderson is looking to change how NFL teams pursue coordinators and how the game is played, at least on the surface.

Other hires by the Anderson regime include Tennesee Titans Assistant Special Teams Coordinator Craig Aukerman to serve as Cleveland's coordinator, San Francisco 49ers Manager of Football R&D Kwesi Adofo-Mensah to serve as Vice President of Football Operations, and Dallas Cowboys Director of Football Research Will McClay to serve as Assistant General Manager.

Just wondering if you base your game results on a game like Madden or Strat-O-Matic or something similar?

I can't get behind a Manziel-led Browns team haha, my apologies. Hopefully you save them from that disaster before it gets too bad. O-line, defense, and coaching were strengths of this team.

Interested in the question above as well, what you'll use for games.

Worry not pals, I'll be using Madden 15 as my official key, and don't worry about Manziel, we'll see what happens with him.

As a bonus as well, I'll also be recording the games and having them play out and post them alongside every update, so folks can get a feel for what is happening on the field with the team.

- Pre-Season, Week 1, 2014 NFL Season -

Cleveland Browns to Sign Former Packer Jermichael Finley

The Cleveland Browns have opted to start the pre-season in a big way, by signing former Packers Tight End Jermichael Finley. Finley, 27, recently returned from a spinal injury sustained during the 2013 season, ironically during a game against the Browns. Finley's career has been one of promise and potential, but his supposed differences with Quarterback Aaron Rodgers led to him becoming much maligned by the fan base. The Browns see much potential in the 27-year-old just coming off a harrowing injury and think he may still have plenty to play for. The signing of Finley is dependent on him passing a physical, after which he is set to receive a $1.72 Million 1-year contract.

Browns Head Coach Scott Anderson spoke of Finley's return as, "Incredible. Simply incredible that he's able to come back and play even now if he chooses to. I know for certain that Finley will be a key contributor to this offense and will bring much-needed experience to the receiving corps. Not to mention he is a solid blocker, I think it's a slam-dunk choice for the Cleveland Browns." Finley caught 223 passes for 2,785 yards and 20 touchdowns while with the Packers.

Browns Sign Pro Bowl Cornerback Brandon Flowers

Brandon Flowers, the Pro Bowl Cornerback recently released by the Kansas City Chiefs, has been signed by the Cleveland Browns to play opposite of Joe Haden. Flowers's release by the Chiefs came as a result of failure to negotiate an extension, and Flowers opted to take a 1-year deal with the Browns as a prove-it deal. The 28-year-old, drafted by Kansas City in 2008, recorded 17 Interceptions, 4 Forced Fumbles, 5 Fumble Recoveries, and 3 Defensive Touchdowns in his six years with the Chiefs.

EJ Henderson to Sign With Cleveland Browns

Minnesota Vikings long-time linebacker EJ Henderson will be a Cleveland Brown going forward. Henderson, 28, spent six years in Minnesota before being released following two DUI arrests earlier this year. Browns Head Coach Scott Anderson stated that their primary focus would be to give Henderson the help he requires to get clean, sober, and back into a productive player on the field. While with Minnesota, Henderson nabbed 295 tackles, 8.5 Sacks, 2 Interceptions, 5 Forced Fumbles, and 2 Fumble Recoveries.

Browns Trade Hoyer, Second Round Draft Pick for Kirk Cousins

In a shocking turn of face for the future of the franchise, Washington Redskins backup quarterback Kirk Cousins was traded to the Cleveland Browns for a Second Round Draft Pick and starting quarterback Brian Hoyer. Browns fans are left wondering just what to make of the shocking news, as a quarterback carousel is set to begin as the beginning of training camp looms. Cousins, 26, is in his second year in the league and may look to become a starting quarterback for the Browns who just drafted Johnny Manziel in the first round this last draft.

Browns Head Coach and General Manager Scott Anderson made the move to add some semblance of competition and motivation to the team for this coming year. "Cousins is a competitor, and I think he has a lot of potential to become a quality starter in this league. Johnny Manziel, he's young and inexperienced, and I think will thrive in the competition. A second-round draft pick is something I think I can live without for this upcoming draft if both men become quality players."

In Kirk's 8 games played in Washington, he was 1-3, throwing 114/203, 1,320 Yards, 8 Touchdowns, and 10 Interceptions. He played backup to Robert Griffith III and both were drafted the same year. Brian Hoyer, in his three games with Cleveland, went 3-0 and threw 57/96 for 615 Yards, 5 Touchdowns, and 3 Interceptions.

Billy Winn Traded to Jaguars For Roy Miller, 4th Round Draft Pick

The Cleveland Browns are still not finished with an extremely busy pre-season, as they trade Defensive Tackle Billy Winn to the Jacksonville Jaguars for veteran Roy Miller and a 4th Round Draft Pick in 2016. Winn, 25, played in 27 games with the Browns, netting three sacks along the way in his two years with Cleveland. Roy Miller, 27, was a third-round draft pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2009 and signed with Jacksonville last year. In his five years in the league, Miller also netted three sacks, and will likely serve as backup to Phil Taylor.

Browns Sign Former Super Bowl MVP Santonio Holmes

Former Super Bowl MVP and Pittsburgh Steeler Santonio Holmes will now be playing for rival Cleveland Browns in 2014, according to official sources. Following his release by the New York Jets, Holmes was given a work-out and subsequent offer by the Browns to join their receiving corps that has been burgeoned by names like Josh Gordon and Jermichael Finley. Holmes spoke out about the irony of joining one of the teams he hated to play against the most, but laughed it off and said that it was simply business. He still feels he has something to prove, and he'll have a chance to face off against his former team in Week 1.

It was fun trying to pick the season. Trying to remember who was good who was bad. If I recall Panthers were in Peak Cam era, Colts had early Luck before he got injured. Then you had Jacksonville with Garbage Time Legend Blake Bortles. Then there was the Raiders who had....... Hell I have no clue don't think Carr was there yet and I have no idea who the hell was there at the time.

Figure you'll have a couple games that by playing them you turn an L on paper into a dub with your skills on the sticks.
