Bret Hart Under the Spotlight.

How do you rate the Hitman. To be he is the greatest wrestler of all time. I was watching his match with Kevin Nash, Royal Rumble 95 last night. He is just so good. My fondest memories of watching wrestling growing up were watching and being a Bret Hart fan. His matches with Austin, Undertaker and Michaels in 97 were world class. Matches with Owen, 123 Kid, PCO, Hakushi, JJ were all excellent to.

The funny response would be 4/10.

To me, he was one of the few reasons I kept watching wrestling after my great grandfather died. The tag division was always my favorite in the 80's, and WWF had some of the best tag teams on the planet, and The Hart Foundation was, and still is one of the best pairings. Size, speed, power, and technical ability, all backed up by Jimmy Hart, what wasn't there to like about them.

Bret's matches with Piper, and Hennig will always be classics in my opinion, Owen's memorial match with Benoit, the IC main event at Summerslam against Bulldog, and the submission match against Austin at WM13 are just highlights of an amazing career.

I could talk all day about Bret Hart, he has his flaws. But when he was in the ring, Noone can say he wasn't one of the best. He had the ability to make even the most marginal of wrestlers look like top tier wrestlers. He made jobbers like Hakushi and Jean Pierre Laffite(or however you spell his name) look like they belonged on the mainstage because Bret Hart, being unselfish could make anyone look great. You look back on the caliber of opponents he had during 95 and you can easily see how talented he was.

You can look back on all the top names from the past 20 years and say Bret Hart was one guy who didn't refuse to work with anyone because he didn't see them as stars.....He made them look like stars.

3/10 at best, undisputed worst draw of all time, crippled two companies, had 5 moves of doom and nobody gave a shit about him or his family outside of Canada.

Also extremely boring to listen to. He basically owes his fame to Shawn Michaels as if it wasn't for the screwjob, he'd be thought of in the same vein as a Dean Malenko.

Being a big hit in Canada still makes you a draw. Loonies are still worth something.

And Bret Hart is one of the top trolls in recorded history. Nuff said.

A solid 9/10

The guy had okay-ish promo skills, but the guy could get in the ring with literally anyone (I'm not misusing the term, either) and pull out a five star match. Everything he did looked so damned easy, and do you know how many guys he injured in his whole carreer? Not a damn one. Outside the mic work, he was the perfect wrestler.
