NoDQ.com > WWE > Breaking news: Survivor Series is being dropped
Posted by Chris Kaufman on 02/11/2010 at 12:12 PM

During today's WWE conference call, Vince McMahon said that the WWE Survivor Series title is "obsolete." He added that the title has "outlasted its usage." He said they do not intend to use the name going forward.

This past November's Survivor Series PPV did a shockingly low number. Obviously WWE doesn't think this was due to poor buildup on TV.

WOW! Thoughts on all this? This is a staple to the WWE for how many years now? This is crazy!

Survivor Series has sucked for like 5 years now, big deal. Vince did something smart.

This is one of THE BIG 4 PPVs in WWE.

Maybe SS was poor because you have fucking Bragging Rights right before it dumbass

I don't think they should change the name. Its kind off like changing the name of Wrestlemania or something. Its been such a huge part of WWE and its history that i'm sad for it to go. All it needed was a new concept not a name change. I blame the low numbers on Bragging Rights the PPV before as it had a huge multi man match so for Survivor Series it didn't seem as big as we saw something like it a few weeks before.

And that's due to his name? How moronic of you.

Yeah, it's pretty stupid to change the name. It's well known in the WWE, even for casual watchers. Changing the name would do absolutely nothing to help ratings/buy rates.

Yeah, its been going on since '87. I couldn't see how Vince would get rid of tradition over five bad past years. I don't think there's enough build-up for the SS PPV's now especially with these shitty Survivor Series matches. The ECW SS match was VERY shitty also.

Was never even close to interesting as the other 3.

Nope, sucked before that too.

Here's what you do... Make SS feel like one of the big four... Hype it up, make enjoyable cards. Sumerslam, I thought, kinda sucked to... Are they getting rid of that too? :nonono:

Barrios noted that they increased the non-WrestleMania pay-per-view price by five dollars.

That's far more atrocious than dropping an outdated name. But hopefully the name isn't something awful like WWE Singles Matches. Or WWE Pinfall or Submission. Or WWE 8 Man Tag. Ya get my drift.

Theyll probably replace it with some payperview that is based just around some over used hardcore match it will probably be called..... wait for it.............. STEEL CAGE (or something like that) YAWN!!!!! That seems to be the common trend with the WWE payperviews as of late.

Their just going to replace it wth Bragging Rights and have a regular stupid PPV like Fully Loaded :shifty:

I liked the concept of Bragging Rights but I didnt actually like the match this year (I loved the iron man match though quality) I think they were just sitting on the fence on who should win so they did that Big Show thing.

What's the big deal. The only 3 that matter are The Rumble, Summerslam and Mania TBH. Bragging Rights at this point serves the purpose much better than Survivor Series, especially with the brand lines drawn.
