It was a decent start for MIB but it is currently tracking behind MIB and MIB II at the same point even with ticket price inflation over the past decade and 3D prices. Avengers continues to rake in the money, tomorrow it will pass Dark Knight to become the third highest grossing film in North America and it may even get to $600 million at this rate. Hopefully The Hunger Games can crack the $400 million mark in a couple of weeks time.

Am still uncertain if I will bother with MIB 3 at the cinema. Loved the first film, but heard very bad things about the follow up and the reviews have not been great for this latest one. Expect it to do pretty strong business as the star power of Smith and Jones is pretty relieable plus there will be a pretty strong fanbase from the first two.

I thought this version was pretty good the end especially. Everyone did a good job in the film. If you liked the first one you should like this one. But I also didn't mind the second so.

For a Sandler movie a think a 13 million dollar opening is pretty disappointing.

Not that surprised. He's been leaning more kid friendly his last few movies, and this movie was marketed more to the teen demo which he probably lost when he switched to more kid friendly movies haha.

Wow I didn't think Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted was gonna be that successful but yeah, it doesn't surprise me since it's a kids movie and the first one was fairly popular and it wasn't that bad. Idk about the 2nd tho since I never watched it. Adam Sandler revenue is pretty poor. He needs to make good movies and people might see them, not come out with heaps of movies with crappy roles and a crappy story.

Disappointing openings for both That's My Boy and Rock of Ages, expected both to get at least $20 million on opening weekends. With Rock of Ages it might have been better if they actually promoted the big stars like Tom Cruise a bit more in the advertisements. Madagascar 3 has done better than I thought, this year most animation sequels have dropped off a lot but this one is remaining steady with what the two previous installments did.

This weekend Brave opens and it is going to be massive. It is the next Pixar movie and it will probably run Madagascar 3 out of the cinemas this weekend. Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter also opens this week and I still don't understand the movie. Why is the president chasing vampires?

Huge opening for Ted. Haven't seen it yet, but from what I've heard from friends it's a really funny movie.

Great opening for Ted. I didnt think itd gross that much. Wow. Might go see the movie myself as its had pretty good reviews and the trailers look promising. Looks like it will make for a good comedy.

The Avengers still making good money.

Nice to see Moonrise Kingdom doing well for an inderpendent feature it also did decent in the UK.

Saw the trailer for Magic Mike yesterday looks awful.

Updated Top Ten
1. The Cabin in the Woods (Lionsgate) 8/10
2. Marvel's The Avengers (Walt Disney, Marvel Studios, Paramount Pictures) 7.5/10
3. Moonrise Kingdom (NEW) (Focus Features) 7.5/10
4. The Hunger Games (Lionsgate) 7/10
5. The Pirates! Band of Misfits (Columbia Pictures) 6.5/10
6. Snow White and the Huntsman (NEW) (Universal pictures) 5.5/10

Moonrise Kingdom was very much a return to the form of the likes of the Royal Teneabuams and Rushmore for Wes Anderson without quite reaching the heights of those films, it is one of the inderpendent hightlights of the year so far. Snow White featured too much Stewart and not enough Theron. It was visually good, but boring and empity far too much of the time.

In the coming weeks I plan to catch up on MIB3 and Prometheus.

7. Snow White and the Huntsman (Universal Pictures) 5.5/10

Five-Year Engagement makes a strong debut in the top four of my list, it is one of the better modern romcoms you will see and Emily Blunt's stock countines to rise. CITW and Avengers remain the best communcial films I have seen all year althrough I might change with a certain Batman film.

I thought that now would be a good time to bump this as this was a strong weekend, following on from a good weekend last weekend. This weekend is 55% up on last year which is a massive boost after a couple of disappointing months.

Taken 2 has started 50% higher than Taken but will drop off a lot quicker and will end up earning less in the US. Hotel Transylvania continues to do well to get to $75 million on its second weekend and Looper held on quite well. Looper won't be a massive hit but it might earn $75 million.

Next weekend is headed by Argo a film directed by and starring Ben Afleck and is based on the rescue of six US diplomats from Tehran in 1979.

I'd rather have a thread where some film critic(Keith) tells me what movies are good. Not a thread that tells me what idiots pay for. Can we adjust this?
