I mean, I didn’t know if people would listen to the songs on it, just to listen, and that version is the stolen version, she owns no rights to it and as a fan of hers, I rather see the one she owns and has rights to used. But it’s whatever, do as you wish as I said I’m not in the mood to go back and forth.

I didn’t know that I thought it was just a money grab thing

That Firehouse song and Robert Palmer one are both good.

Surprised no one took the Bloodhound Gang.

Yeah it’s this whole mess with her former label screwed her over, and sold all the masters to someone else without even giving her a chance to. So she’s putting all of them out again from her first 6 albums.

I was talking about the rerelease as Taylor’s Version

Ohhhh gotcha, I would say the money grab songs are the previously unreleased songs that are actual bangers

I mean Blaze already explained why it got rereleased so my money grab statement was already a moot point

It should be noted that a lot of musicians generally don’t their own music. That’s how studios typically make their money is they front of the cash to get an artist music out in the world, but then they own it. And selling off the discography happens quite a lot.

Fun fact, Michael Jackson at one point actually owned Eminem’s music after buying this catalog.

The music industry is a very interesting place where people can just re-record their music though so good for Taylor being able to get a piece of pie back.

Yeah it’s not crazy to think that studios pay artists a fuck ton of money to release music through their label but they themselves own the music.

Same thing with films. Kevin Williamson for instance doesn’t own Scream. They paid him for his script and then they could do whatever they wanted with it.

Thankfully for him he does get to be an executive producer on the latest films, though I don’t know how much he actually contributes to the them.

He also owned the Beatles and Led Zepplins as well after taking advice from Paul McCartny I believe on buying music rights so he did. He actually owned Sony/AVI so he probably has/had more right to other musicians.
