in my humble opinion, the hard conservative and racist parts of Country Music fans refuted Neil Young because he sings about stuff they can't handle to face. They still mad about Alabama and Southern Man, bunch of pussies

I mean when it was released it was definitely it's own genre. That genre has since kinda died so often compared to country, and I agree it's should qualify. But country often disowns it's own people like if you're in country and you're over the age of 50 time to go die. You're lucky if they'll even play a song.

oh yeah I know, I'm specifically talking about the "neil young is not and will never be country" hardliners where their evidence is fairly evident why they dont like him. he's pretty much the antitesis of that whole genre to me :p . I know you just can't stand his voice and that's totes fine, it's pretty high and twangy so its def not for everyone

to me if you got an acoustic guitar and lamenting about x y z in a certain tone, it's more than qualifies for country. fuck the asthetic bs and fuck new country

Bro country did a lot of damage.

They have a couple artist now that have done it some good. Chris Stapleton probably being the biggest imo.

Dolly is a national fucking treasure and deserves awards for the things she does. LMAO she got into the rock n roll hall of fame so then she did a cover of rock songs.

Alternatively I lost with Reba and she's pretty high up the country royalty chain so.... It's very hit and miss.

Lil Nas X is my favorite country artist

I will disagree. 1 arguably country song does not make you a country artist. I however didn't discount it as much as a lot of people did or for the reasons. I guess my problem was I just didn't like the song. It reminded me of a kids song, which Ironically it did go onto a kidz bop album so...

John Denver is the perfect example of someone totally qualifying as country and country hating them for it. Though back in the day if you were using country to get popular enough to jump to another genre they'd beat your ass publicly. Now a days they just call that person Taylor Swift lol
