It's a shame that we never got to see Roode get a good run on WWE's main roster, but at elast we can look back fondly on his incredible NXT run and he had an excellent run in TNA before that too. Turning him babyface on his main roster debut was the killer blow really, but Vince saw the song and nothing else about his character and package so he rolled with it. Wouldn't have happened like that under HHH for sure, but alas.
It's good to hear that he's healthy though and that he can get in the ring should he ever want it (imagine the pop if that song did hit in the arena again), but sounds like he's very content doing the backstage work and if that was his end-game when he moved to WWE then fair play to him, he's achieved it. I bet he's really good at it too.
the idea of using him as a GM is actually an incredibly fun one to think about. He'd be perfect for it if they ever want to move on from Adam Pearce, Nick Aldis, or even Ava Rayne in NXT. Pearce and Aldis fullfill those roles while still doing the backstage producer work so Roode could easily do the same.
