Let me ask you this, who do you consider to be the best heel promo men of all time?

I know what you are going to do. I'll list the obvious ones, you will rebuttal that with situations where they have put the opponent over. I can easily counter that with situations where Punk has done the same, in this feud, with this gimmick, it makes no sense at all for Punk to compliment Rock.

I'd like to hear Punk doing that, please give me an example, because I don't recall it ever happening during this particular run.

Before we take it into that, can you please reply to what I originally said? Are you really suggesting every heel should show respect to every face? Punk's character is the same character that mocked Jerry Lawler for having a heart-attack on RAW, you really want to see him suddenly acknowledge Rock's skill and ability?

I think people are criticizing for the sake of it to be honest. I don't see anyone complaining when Cesaro cuts promos saying he will win this and that and be US champ for ages without acknowledging his opponents skill, but because Punk done it, people are mad. I went to check on other platforms to see if this is a global IWC complaint, but it doesn't seem to be at all, so at least it's just here lmao.

Not necessarily respect, but acknowledgment. There's a brilliant quote about this in one of Foley's books, I just wish I could remember which one. Considering he knows a lot more about the business than you or I, it's a very valid point. You can disagree, which is fine, but to dismiss it as laughable or illogical also doesn't make sense. You're saying you do not see our point at all. If I find the blurb I'll post it.

No I completely understand acknowledging your opponent, it's why I've been giving Rock props ever since he returned to feud with Punk. That is a perfect example of putting someone over who needs it and making him look like gold. This is just the complete wrong time to bring it up, in a feud like this.

If Punk was feuding with Ryback still, or some other up-and-coming face then yes putting him over is great, but with THIS gimmick against THE ROCK it makes no sense at all. Punk is kayfabe bitter at Rock getting this shot and stealing this spotlight, he legitimately hates Rock for trying to take his title and embarrassing him at the same time, why would he give any respect?

To criticize a promo because of the lack of acknowledgement to someone like The Rock is the part I find baffling, that to me has no logic. Especially because you think it will have an impact on the marks view of this feud, implying CM Punk's promos means more to them than Rock's. The Rock doesn't need any help or acknowledgement, all the help needs to be given to Punk.

Shouldn't they? He's been the champ for over a year. It's not about the Rock needing help, it's about Punk helping himself. He can put himself over even more by putting the Rock over a bit, especially if he wins. Giving the Rock acknowledgment puts Punk over no matter what the outcome of the match. I personally like Punk, that's why I was so disappointed with the promo. You're right, Rock does need to put Punk over as well, and he has, beautifully. I think that you think I want him to put Rocky over so that the fans think Rocky is over. That's far from the truth. I want Punk to put Rock over so that Punk can be more over at the end of this feud, knowing that he is going to lose at some point.

I think you're basing this whole opinion on the marks really investing in everything Punk says. As soon as Punk speaks he is boo'd, I can almost guarantee they don't listen and absorb everything he's saying (else they would have no self-esteem left). Coward heels like Punk need to fall sooner or later, it's the pay-off for the fans investing in the feud. The coward heel scrapes along with his title, winning luckily and fluky, everyone begins to really hate this. Eventually he loses cleanly and looks shit in the process, that's natural, and that's what is most likely going to happen with Rock.

CM Punk acknowledging Rock as a fierce competitor won't help him after Rock winks clean at all. It won't be "Oh CM Punk lost YAY, but he did say Rock was fierce so I still think CM Punk is a cool tough guy", lol. All marks care about is Rock shutting Punk up and putting him in his place, that's how they are building this storyline and it has worked perfectly in my opinion.

Didn't Paul Heyman say that last night? That Vince is doing all he can to make sure Punk loses the title, that is what you call good build imo.

Exactly, Heyman's promo was much better. Either way, it's looking like with that new stipulation, Punk will be stripped so as to not lose cleanly. So I guess it doesn't really matter. I don't see it your way, and you don't see it my way. I could go on for hours like this, lol. But it would be pointless.

I liked the promo. I wasn't as critical as I would've been in other situations because I was watching the promo with a bad headache and all, but I don't know, I watched it and enjoyed it, it was sort of a different style from most of his promos, when I say different I mean small tweaks as in Heyman holding the mic and Punk holding the belt, him wearing the hoodie, I liked it more than most people. He didn't put Rock over, but it's no like he has to, imo.

Yeah I liked those subtle changes as well. I really think the championship came out looking incredible, it looked so prestigious after Punk's promo, which I believe was the purpose.

Indeed, I don't really remember many things he said but he did put the championship over very well.

How many "great" promos did Punk have? Srsly, is everything he does so "great"? I doubt.

A thread complimenting Punk now implies I've said everything he does is great? Punk haters are starting to become more annoying than the marks -.-.

Ain't true. I ain't even hater. I only "hate" a few professional wrestlers, but he ain't one, so that statement ain't true.

Just stating that there are SO many threads almost every week with title being name "Punk great" or "Punk awesome". Hard to believe to a non-watcher like me.

Same old shit. I'm so sick of Punk lmao. Honestly he seems to be unprepared in his recent promos and winds up repeating the same shit over and over and over again. He's here to hurt people. He's bad. He doesn't care about fans. blah fucking blah man. Don't care. do. not. care.
